So this weekend sucks. Sure, maybe for you it's just starting, but for me, this one sucks.
It begins Thursday: it was New Corporate Day at the Moviedome, meaning all the old ads (for Nissan, against smoking) had to be removed and replaced with new Toyota ads. Irritating, but not so very bad. But here's the thing: I have known, for two months now, that a friend's 25th birthday gala was tonight. I have been operating all this time under the assumption that it would be booked off. But apparantly there was a two minute gap in this ever-present certainty, and it happened to be exactly when I was making up the October schedule. So around 10 Thursday night, I happen to glance at the schedule and see that I'm working all day today. Noon to midnight. I have utterly failed to book myself off, and the two guys who could replace me are busy. So I have spectacularly screwed myself over and may well miss a huge party that I had bought costume props for. And the worst part was that since I make the schedule, I had nobody to blame but myself.
So that's phase one.
Yesterday we at Scorpio Theatre were being press-ganged into helping Dancers' Studio West run a bingo, 'cause if we do they knock our bill down a little, and that's handy. Only problem: the Bingo's at 8:30 AM. It's Friday, my day off from everything, and I don't care for being up before noon if I don't have to be. But in this case I make the execption, and drag myself down to the bingo hall. Except there's been a mix-up... DSW's bingo isn't until 9:30 PM. They screwed up, and now all their volunteers have arrived 13 hours early. And I'm awake for no good reason. Danny angry. And now I'm far too tired to go to Kink night, but in the end that's likely OK. Watched 7 straight episodes of Battlestar Galactica with Masquerade and JDRook, then a couple of movies with she-that-played-Alexis, then finally yielded to exhaustion.
Now I'm off to work 12 hours and see if I can slip into the party 5 hours late. Bah.
"It's moments like this that I wonder how precisely you manage to get out of bed and dress yourself, I swear."
