This was hard. Harder than I thought it would be. Finding characters I like was easy, but how much did I really have in common with many of them? Not a lot of fictional characters fit well in defining who I am. I managed to gather a field of six characters, but these three give the broadest spectrum of me.
Here goes nothing.
1. Harry Dresden- The Dresden Files novel series by Jim Butcher
No, unfortunately, I am not a wizard. And I'm not in the book. Perpetually broke, always trying to do the right thing, being an idiot for the sake of my friends and loved ones, too stubborn to quit... Yeah. That's me. I continually and stupidly and maybe even honorably, refuse to do certain things that would get me leaps and bounds ahead in life because they are simply reprehensible to me. Not everything I do is admirable, and people may want to throttle me for being stupid at times, but in my mind, at least, I do them for the right reasons.
2. Ethan Chandler: from Showtime's Penny Dreadful (Josh Harnett)
As well as expressing a creepy number of my own physical mannerisms, Ethan Chandler's fierce loyalty and presence I see almost as reflections of myself in perhaps a vain magnetism to the character. He is a slave to his passions, and as such, lives the parts of his life that he can with utter self control and restraint. I identify with this character very closely. He is a reminder to me that no matter what I do or how much I avoid it, I cannot escape myself; and that I have to be careful.
Now, all of the above would make me intolerably cool-- if not for...
3. George McFly- Back to the Future, as portrayed by Crispin Glover
Holy socially awkward, Batman! My shyness, self-doubt and insecurity are perhaps exaggerated in poor George, but it's a close thing. If I could keep my big, fat, stupid mouth shut on occasion, people might get the impression that I'm... well, a snob, now that I think about it. If I couldn't be awkward, I'd never speak again. Damn. On the bright side, George also exhibits my tendency to be a dreamer and my creativity... and my surprising disdain for dudes named Biff (I kid).
So that's kind of me, in a nutshell.
