Because @chefbethrogers asked me to tell her a bit about myself in her blog.
"You can call me Sheila. I like long walks and fresh flowers." --Patrick Warburton in Hoodwinked
She also asked how many toes I have. Wha? Okay.
That's what I got for you. It's not accurate.
Obviously, I'm a gamer, and have a dumb sense of humor. My daily life is kind of boring to me. I'm 41, work in the local Budweiser warehouse, and in my off time, I waste time on the internet and hang with my 11 year old son. I dig hockey (pretty much the only sport I really bother with) and enjoy going to games. Never been to an NHL game; all USHL junior league (ages 16-21). I spend a lot of my mental down time dreaming up ideas for my role playing game addiction, which I have been afflicted with since my age could be counted on 9 Toes' toes. With a couple left to spare. When the idea gets too big to fit on a gaming table, I write.
Some might call me antisocial. I'm just good with my own company. In my time, I've hated the person I was, wised up, and figured out I'm not so bad after all. Life's too crappy in other places to be bringing yourself down all the time. I'm a little distant in most social situations, save those that are very small gatherings. I'm talking like me and maybe two other people. At other times, I seem like I'm the most outgoing person on the planet, and while that might seem a little bi-polar to you, I can assure you it's not. It's just me, suddenly being okay with large groups of people, finding my comfort zone, or just not giving a fuck enough to socialize for a change.
Going out is a study in ruts for me. I pick the places I like, and go to those places almost exclusively, unless some persuasive motherfucker has talked me into trying (gasp!) something new. The bar scene (here in Lincoln anyway) is kind of a wasteland; I am particular bout the places I'll hang out. Maybe I'll blog about those places later. Hm.
Dancing is rare for me, and I tend to only willingly dance to techno or industrial. Since that scene is almost nonexistent where I live, I don't bother often. I like going to movies. I like going out to eat.
Ahhh, food. That is one thing absolutely everyone has in common. My favorites are Italian, Mexican, Cajun, Chinese, Barbecue and good old steak-and-potatoes fare. Flavors and textures are king for me. Spicy food? Sure. As long as it still has flavor, and isn't simply tantamount to giving myself chemical burns, I'll go for it. Something with a little bite is fine. Something that makes your taste buds wither and you lose your sense of taste isn't worth putting in your mouth. Hot for hot's sake seems contrary to part of the point of eating.
*Note: I want to go to @chefbethrogers restaurant and eat everything she makes. I am dead serious about that. I have been seduced by her food porn.
That's enough for now, I suppose. I was going to talk about movies, TV and music, but as long as I've had to build a repertoire, those three are blogs of their own.
Cheers!
