So I found a great veterinarian hospital that took such good care of my baby!
They did give me some pretty shocking but expected news. He needs an eye enucleation, both eyes. I say it was expected because I knew it would eventually need to be done but it was shocking because I didn't think it needed to be done so soon. He turns 8 in May.
There are bad and good things about this but I'm mainly going to focus on the good things because they out weigh the bad things.
Bad things are he has to get his eyes removed. That's heart breaking and I can't get prosthetics for him, or at least the vet I took him to doesn't do that. I could probably eventually find someone to make him prosthetics but finding someone to put them in in time is the hard part.
The good things are that he doesn't need to adjust to being blind, he's been completely blind since 2019. They are suturing the eye lid closed so it's not an open socket and after he heals from the surgery he will live irritation free!
Of course I'm nervous for him because I don't know how he will react to his eyes being removed and if he will go through any personality changes. No matter what happens my love for him will still only grow everyday and he will still be the most bestest boy ever. π
If you're wondering why they suggested the enucleation as opposed to cataract removal surgery it's because it wouldn't matter. He would still be blind because his retinas are completely deteriorated.
As you can see from this photo his left eye is considerably larger than his right even when you take into account the angle of his face. The left eye has always been a problem and it's bothered him for far too long.
I know alot of you care about JJ and I'm happy to share with you about him and his progress.
Thank you so much for reading. We both appreciate how much you care for the both of us and know that he is in good hands for this surgery and we're doing everything we can to make his future the most enjoyable for him!
Much love π€
