I've had a slightly odd week being back in Newcastle and sort of hovering around the fringes of my old life (which may still be my life, for all I know...)
As I no longer have a home in Newcastle, I have been sleeping on the floor of my friend HD, who has been playing me Nina Simone's 'Mr Bojangles' over breakfast every morning in an effort to cheer me up. And it sort of works: the thought that someone with as much soul as Nina Simone was even ever alive is a considerable comfort when you're surrounded by corporate whores, unwashed oiks and ill-educated aggravators...
Yesterday, at work, we had training in 'Public Speaking and Voice Projection', which involved a lot of lying on the floor and breathing from the diaphragm, and a certain amount of reciting telephone numbers in booming voices.
On Sunday I fly to Adelaide for my three-day long job interview process. I feel entirely unprepared, and yet quite unable to concentrate on anything else. I arrived in Newcastle quite convinced I wanted to get out and move to the other side of the world. After a week of drinking, dabbling and wandering around, I'm not so sure...
So, since I don't know my own mind, here's some rock-star wisdom for you:
'As the world goes round, it's got me thinking
How the things I want just keep me sinking... down'
- Zwan, 'Ride a Black Swan'
'Now you may disagree with the way I live
But freedom isn't free until you learn to give'
- Zwan, 'Endless Summer'
'Well I'm scuffling and I'm shuffling and I'm walking on briars
I'm not even acquainted with my own desires...'
- Bob Dylan, 'Bye and Bye'

trixel:
it seems you are standing between two worlds at the moment, a foot in each. If you move and don't like it, you can always move back, no?

What does a tat feel like? Pick the area you want to get it. Take a push-pin. Scrape the area with the pin, kind-of hard. More or less, that's what it'll feel like.
