I've had kind of weird, but nice, peaceful week sitting in the other university library in this town (i.e. not the one I usually use) trying to teach myself something about Indian cinema, which I have to teach next year...
I got quite into it and started fantasising about learning Indian languages (but which one(s)?), reading up on Hindu religious and philosophical texts and travelling all over the subcontinent...
This is always how it works with me: as soon as I become slightly interested in something, I imagine a whole parallel life around it. I think this is one reason (one of many!) why I have trouble forming intimate relationships: as soon as I even think I like someone, I can't help imagining sharing a life with them, at which point I flee in terror!
