Hoiday weekend not great - feeling shitty and unable to enjoy myself with any gusto. Drank small amounts of Riesling and Guinness (not together) and played some very bad pool.

Slept most of yesterday and watched Tim Burton's unimpressive Sleepy Hollow on the TV.

On the train read much of James Frey's Million Little Pieces, which is impressive. Let me see if I can find some to quote, at random:

Here goes, p. 190:
'I get in the shower and I turn up the heat and I wash the sickness from my face and my body. It gathers around the drain and I crush it with my feet and I make it disappear. I'm sick of being sick. I want it to disappear. I crush it with my feet.
I brush my teeth. The new ones are just like the old ones. I like them and I'm happy to have them.
A white scar is forming in place of the hole in my cheek.
Another reminder of the life I live.
I don't even bother with my eyes.
I get dressed and I make the coffee and I pour myself a cup and I drink it. It's strong and I get sick again, so I take another shower and I brush my teeth a second time. I don't even bother with my eyes.'

Tonight: Papa M gig. I'm in no mood, but we'll se...
Papa M wrote the immortal lyric:
'There's something like a wall between us
That stops you going down on my penis.'
trixel:
I like the rhythm of that prose, so much so I've put it on my list of books to read. Thank you.

I still have to see Eternal Sunshine. It's starting to look like rental material.

That's a pretty special song lyric. wink
