Random thoughts while cooking Puerco Pibil
So if anyone has seen the movie Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sands (Johnny Depp) always orders Puerco Pibil, a slow roasted pork from the Yucatan. Well on the DVD Robert Rodriguez has a ten minute featurette giving instructions on how to make puerco pibil. So me being the revenge movie buff I am, why of course I'm going to make it
So I got all the ingredients, hell I even went to the local Mexican grocery store for fresh bananna leaves and believe it or not it turned out pretty damn good, nice and spicey just how I like it.
I've been thinking why I like revenge movies so much. Maybe because it deals with retribution of something lost. I mean we all spend time walking the earth deep down hoping to find someone that flips that switch. Can you imaging if that was so unjustly taken away? Then given the chance to avenge that loss? I mean who wouldn't take that chance, make the wrong things right. I would take it in a heartbeat.
So today at work I walked into a gurney. now my thigh is lightly bruised but hey it could be worse. a half a foot to my left and I'm sure my right testicle would be no more. And I set up my schedule to train as a tech. That means I would be able to do just about everything patient care wise except push drugs and start IVs.
Speaking of work I got to watch a code today. A 20 yrd hung himself in the county jail :/ He made it but he probably has sustained brain damage. I know it's sad but it comes with the territory of working where I work. At least we are there for when these tragedies come along and I will say this, ER doctors and nurses do what they do, not for the money. They do it because they have unnatural levels of caring. I've worked with some of the greatest people I know in that ER.
anyhow random question on my mind lately, If you could go off on an adventure in space and no one knew where you were (you just disappeared). Leave everything behind, taking only a small bag. Telling no one, no family goodbyes, no last kiss with a lover and on this adventure you saw the galaxy and all it's glory. Good and bad. would you go?
And now for something completely different...

I think the ultimate revenge movie is Kill Bill. I want to kick ass every time I see it. Fuck all the people that have ever fucked with me!
Whew. Little rage there. Anyways, where do you work? It sounds very interesting. I love gross medical stuff. That is sad, though.
