It depends how solid things were between you.
I'm 28 and had to tell a 37yo that it just wasn't going to work, and did so via text, but we'd only been on one date.
If she's not your girlfriend, I don't think there's any obligation to come over and sit you down and "have a chat".
As for losing the dreads... it's a tough decision to make. You look like you had yours for longer than I had mine. It's a very personal decision. Still, hair grows back, right? And apparently it'll make you look a lot younger. So I was told.
For me last Friday was of those days I'll never be able to plan for or recreate, I just had to sit there and appreciate that it was one of the good ones.

HA HA oh that reminds me of when I lived at my old place... I remember for a year I had a girl above me who wanted to be on Australian Idol. She would practice singing every morning between Monday and Friday from 5 am to 7 am. The next year I had a nudist sexaholic couple who used to run naked around the house together with all the windows and doors open. I once went up to give them their mail and accidentally discovered the girl doing something strange and naked in the kitchen.
