In just over a month, and baring 2 half-slipups, I will be cigarette-free for a year. I'm kinda proud of that fact. Now that I think about it, the money I've saved on cigarettes can easily pay for the iphone I just bought today
.
I used to love the smell of a freshly-opened pack, and that first smoke from a new pack. Now, fresh or old, the smell is nauseating. Since then, I have lost weight, gained health, and in about 3-4 more months, I should be able to start running. Right now, with the tummy I have, I would need a super-strength tummy-bra to keep from injuring myself.
I hated running when I was a kid. HATED it. But, over the last few years, I've had dreams about running. Dreams, where I was just flying along. Then, last week, I tried running a half-lap at the gym (when nobody was looking
). I'm not sure I have good form or not, but it felt like flying! I moved so fast!
Now, if I could just get the mook who hogs the lat pulldown machine to go away (I swear, he used just that one machine for about 40 minutes today).
As to a few changes in my life. I got sick of my crappy internet connection at home, so I'm getting rid of it. I was supposed to be getting their middle-level connection, for about $50 per month. Instead, I was getting close-to or below their lowest price speed. And, just for fun, about once per hour, my connection would die off for about 5 minutes. It is just PATHETIC in this day and age.
I also have been annoyed with my cell-phone company (U.S. Cellular/Cellular 1) of late. I couldn't get a decent phone, and adding a data plan would have about doubled my monthly phone bill. So, today, I went to Verizon and signed up for an Iphone. And, when I get there, I found out I get a rather substantial discount (18%) because of my job! So, I should be saving about $30 per month!
I have another motive for this. Right now, whenever I'm home, I have my laptop on my lap, and am surfing the web. But I only go to about 3 websites (here, facebook, and my work email), so I'm usually just going in circles. I need to break this habit.
This way, if I want to check something online, I can do so with my phone (which does seem to work faster than my wireless). If I want to use my computer, I can take it to the coffeeshop or my office. And, maybe, I can change a few more things in my life for the better.
I'm not leaving SG. But, hopefully, I can take a few steps back. Or, at least, stop checking to see if someone has replied to a statement I made every 5 seconds
Hugs and Handshakes to all my friends
