Guess what! Shootfest in Brisbane!
I'm so excited about this one. Six photographers and such an amazing venue! A shootfest is like a big productive photography party. We hire out a venue (in this case, it's a place in central Brisbane on May 2015) and a whole bunch of photographers fly in from around the country and we shoot photosets for Suicidegirls for a few days.

The shootfest is going to be busy and crazy. There will be a lot of girls coming and going. If you are an Aussie hopeful or applicant or an SG that wants to take part, you will need to be comfortable being naked in front of a bunch of ladies and two male photographers
If you want to take part, this is the process as a model...
- Apply to be a Suicidegirl. You can read about how to do that right here. If you're already an applicant/hopeful or an SG skip this step.
- Go check out the photographers listed in the graphic above. I've listed their portfolios/instagrams below so you can see their work. Please take note of how much they charge. If you're an SG already, the photography fee is $0.
- Contact the ones you like best, let them know who you are, that you're an existing SG/applicant/hopeful here on SG, let them know that you'll be able to make it to the Shootfest in Brisbane and you'd like to shoot with them! Let them know what dates/times you can be there (you will need to ask them for the exact dates and address details, I'm not going to publish them here on my open blog). The times available are basically any time the sun is shining. If you're not already on the site, link them to your portfolio or instagram (or better, both) and let them know whether you have modelling experience.
- Organise a time that suits their schedules (please be quick with this, some photographers will be booked out within 2 weeks, I'd guess).
- Pay your commitment deposit ($25 to countessmedia@gmail.com via PayPal) this offsets venue hire and confirms your slot. I am currently out of pocket because I booked the venue. You'll receive the exact address of the venue once you've committed to payment.
- You can definitely shoot with more than one photographer, but if you've already got stuff in the queue, please leave it at one or two shoots. There's no point shooting again and again if you've already got a massive backlog of sets to submit to the site because you'll never get through them all.
- Hit the gym! Haha. No, we love you the way you are. But please re-read the Model Guide and Model FAQ so you know what to wear, how to do your hair, makeup etc. when the time rolls around.
- If you're still an applicant, complete your paperwork and ID in your application over at suicidegirls.com/model. Your username is the email address you got this message in. If you've forgotten your password please email rambo@suicidegirls.com to have it reset. We cannot shoot sets of you until you've lodged your ID and signed your contract with the site.
When your shoot day rolls around:
- Re-read the Model Guide and Model FAQ. Super important.
- Relax. We're all friendly and excited about having you join our gang. Grab a couple of options for outfits, do your hair and makeup and arrive at the venue at least an hour ahead of your shoot start time. There will be a lot of people on hand to assist you with your hair and makeup but please try and do your own beforehand. Please, NO HEAVY FOUNDATION. We can digitally remove any skin blemishes that show through lighter foundation, but photoshopping your head so it's the same colour as your body is a PAIN IN THE BUTT! Other big no-no's are fake eyelashes (their weight makes your eyes look dopey in photos), lipstick and heavy eyeshadow. Again, this info is all in the Model Guide so just check there.
- Please don't arrive drunk (you can bring some fizzy wine to get you started right before your shoot but excess drunkenness will show up in the photos), be respectful of other models at the shootfest. You can bring 1 lady friend if you're shy but there may not be enough space for her to hang around during your shoot, especially if we've got 6 photographers going at once. Please don't interrupt a shoot that's in process unless you're asked to. Come VERY EARLY if you need hair/makeup help.
- Your photographer may ask you to pay their photography fees on the day or to send money through beforehand. Just make sure you've paid before the shoot starts. The money is mostly for covering the photographers' flight costs and photoshop/retouching time. All these photogs are pros and we love them. It's a lot of work to shoot an SG set.
- Your photographer will shoot your set and submit it to the site once the retouching is done. You'll get a chance to see it before they send it through, don't worry. Once it's submitted, congrats! You're all done!
