Well, I'm back in Edmonton. I'm hoping to get another assignment before the strike ends to cash in some more, but I don't know if that will happen. They reached one tentative agreement and the union voted it down by 53 votes out of almost 10000 votes cast. 4900 people didn't vote. It was a bizarre scenario, voting YES were people who thought it was...

ouch.

Unions have their place, but I think most have outlived their purpose.

Thanks for your comments. I am glad to be rid of her. smile

I want to attend NC State's Art and Design program, but the deadline (much to my surprise) for FALL of next year is December 1,2005. That means unless I bust ass to get accepted, I won't even be attending their next year!!! So I am a bit uncertain at the moment.

Canada is going to have to wait. Besides, I don't want to deal with the cold right now. Ohio is cold enough. It was almost 80 degress here today in NC. Hard to beat that.

that sucks about the rash! and you were trying to be sexy.... awww... that usually happens though because skin is so sensitive. i bet you're still sexy anyways.

So, I had some excitement the other day. First, my mentor Trevor and I were trying to find a cable buried under some guy's driveway, and Trevor (arrogant redneck - dangerous combination) climbs in a back hoe and starts digging up the driveway. The guy tells me there's a gas line 3 feet under where Trevor's digging, and I pass the pertinent information on to...

holy shit, I am glad you made it out alright. I think I can handle the end of relationship a little better than potentially being blown up by an idiot or being gunned down for something that you don't have an immediate role in.

Have you considered entering a less stressful line of work, like maybe hiding in a hole in the ground with no underground gas lines for days?
psychemoon:
ummm... how to reply to a tale full of excitment like that? i guess i will start with i am incredibly glad to hear you made it out unscathed. also i should add that i think you should try to keep a safe distance from this trevor, rednecks can be dangerous enough but an arrogant one to boot frightening.

and thank you. you have always had intelligent, sweet and sincere things to say to me and i really appreciate it...

Well, a good week in Fort Mac. I've been learning telephone cable repair and I like it lots. I don't like taking abuse from the strikers, which is getting to me on the inside even though I don't want to let it. They call me princess, which is kinda funny but still bothers me. I think I feel threatened because they like to throw implied...

Victoria is so beautiful, and so is Lindsay, I'm glad I went. We cooked for her parents and then for some friends, we cuddled and talked and hiked through coastal rain forest to the beach, and took pictures met up with friends from Toronto. It was fabulous.

I go a call in Fort Mac saying I'm now in cable repair for the big telco. This...

Hey, what the hell is this thing stuck to me? A beer belly?! No way, damn-it! A month of sating myself here on the company's card and now I'm paying for it. How could I let this happen? I've been so good with the yoga and the gym and the not stuffing myself, then I go on expenses and it's steak and beer every night....

Today I made friends with fox. I was kicking around my soccer ball in a park when I started to get the feeling someone was staring at me. I turned around and there was this fox standing about a 100 feet from me just staring back. So I ignored him for awhile (that's how you show wild animals they don't need to be scared of...

sounds like you had a lovely time with the fox. i tried to make friends with a porcupine last night but people were waiting for me so i had to say good-bye early.

thank you for the kind words, for the bad day & my new pic. a dear friend of mine has a flashy little digital camera that does fun things like the sepia finish, i'm a little jealous.

oh, my days since saturday have been nothing but good, i hope yours have been much the same...

i love it when shit like that happens....i've had quite a few wierdo experiences with birds. soooo many birds.
no foxes. but of lots dogs. dogs are cool.
my friend saved 2 hedghogs once, outside of mcdonald. they had mcflurry cups stuck on their heads, and they were scrabbling around trying to get them off. he missed his cab but the hedgehogs were grateful.

Now, I grew up in a pretty redneck town in Southern Ontario where guys I knew would go "stoner hunting" with pellet rifles, and I've lived in Edmonton for two years where the mullet has only just gone out of fashion, but I just saw the most redneck thing I have ever seen in my life. This guy's driving around in his pick up truck,...

OK, so I'm making sick cash here in Fort Mac Daddy, but I want to make this gig work for me here in the land of gooey sand. So I brought my mountain bike up from Edmonton. While home I enquired at MEC about some kind of cow bell to hang on my bike to warn bears that I'm coming and to pick-up some bear...

Sunday in Fort Mac - slept in due to a hangover, got coffee at Tim's and made my way down to a park on the northwest corner of bustling downtown Fort McMurray. It really does bustle, but not on a Sunday morning. As I'm driving towards the long laneway to the park I see a black bear cross the road in front of me. A...

Leaning forward, knees buckling, soles of my shoes slip off the edge; and I'm falling. The acceleration drives my stomach to my throat, wind rips through my hair, tears streak my face, the tower is a blur beside me, the ground grows to meet me, I reach out to touch it. And then-.

Fort Mac Attack!!

So I called up a friend of a friend here in Fort Mac, and after dinner at the Newfie Seafood Place (Cod Au Gratin just 'cause they were out of Arctic Char and Hollandaise, and Alligator as an appetizer, just 'cause), we hit the Oil Can. The Oil Can, sounds exitic, right? It's attached to a strip joint whose marque promises 4...

Holy shit - I just got redeployed to Fort MacMurray. Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean... I've been looking to get redeployed to a new assignment during the strike at work, because I want a piece of the huge overtime they're paying out to redeployed managers. So now I got my assignment - driving around looking for vandalism to company facilities in Fort Mac. Damn,...
