Well, earlier this week (on Tuesday), Lord Claud and I went into NY to continuing the mixing on the latest Teeth album. Things are going very well, in fact, I'm particularly proud of my performance on Live Minnows which I recorded this week. All the pieces are now in place for the final mix-down.
Thinking about the packaging, I've been looking at CD packaging on the hundreds of CD's that I own and the only ones that are grabbing my eye are a couple of Jazz CD's released by Impluse(!), notably Coltrane's Ascension, and Aimee Mann's CD "Lost in Space" which was designed by the graphic novelist Seth.
So I've been digging into my graphic anthologies on the look out for something that would be juicy, and I've been quite interested in the work of Chris Ware. My work is not quite as clean and precise as his, but the simple character design is similar. What is most impressive is Ware's layout skills. So yesterday I picked up Jimmy Corrigan and the hardcover of the Acme Library that was published recently by Pantheon. Also checking out Daniel Clowes Ice Haven.
What I have in mind for the packaging is a 20 to 32 page booklet, full of short comic strips based on Teeth characters or Teeth themes. So I'm chewing on that!

Blimey. I'm not used to being this close to the creative process. (Except when it's the kid, of course. Somehow that doesn't seem to count.

Personally I'm a Hernandez man. (Jaime, mostly; fabulous light/shade. Beto's too cartoonish, somehow, and Mario's much to busy.)
