I feel like I am 15 again, what with this depression shit. I thought I had come so far in my life since then. Life is fun like that.

But, I have made the decision to actively combat my depression. I have admitted to it, made an appointment to go talk to my doctor about it, and mentioned my stress level to a few key...

Aww man, I hope things work out for you.
I got to Humboldt today by the way. Lots of life lessons learned over the course of half a day.

I am currently terrified for one young boy I know. I and my coworkers have invested so much time and energy into helping him recover from a violent childhood, and he has made so much progress. However, he is moving across the country next week, and tomorrow is his last day with us. I can only hope that the school system there will be openminded...

Returned from the wilderness! I am back--slightly dirty and slightly burnt, but still home in one piece. I survived incredible heat, many hikes, thunder and lightening, a few forest fires (one near our exit road), and annoying tourists who camp with Chanel bags. I have discovered that my brothers are actually becoming real people now that they are teenagers. And I am now ready to...

Woo. It's the 4th of July and my new redneck neighbors who feel the need to yell instead of talk and switch between really loud country and really loud bad rap are having a party. One of them laughs like Goofy. We have to go to a party ourselves, but I fear our apartment will be burnt down by the time we get back. Fuck...

Cheery update!
Said shitty coworker quit yesterday! Hooray! I still feel bad for her kid, but at least I don't have to depend on someone who is undependable anymore. (And she quit because one of the moms at our school was found to be screwing her most recent ex--not her baby's father. My life is a soap opera.)

In an unrelated note, I escaped my...

Aw, thanks!

And you should definitely go be in the zombie music video. And post a YouTube of it on here, 'cause zombies are very cool.

I know I have said this before, but I hate stoners. Really a lot. Coworker S. found out she was pregnant last week and has since tried to call in sick 3 of 4 days she was scheduled to work. She also has gotten increasingly snippy with children who are too rough near her. Both are caused by her trying to protect the health of...

That's true, there are probably worse ways to have to part with a phone... like being mugged. Or being tricked out of it by a group of travelling elves. Or something...

And your co-worker sounds like a bit of a twunt, hopefully she'll leave to go on maternity vacation soon. Btw, what subject do you teach? *guesses it's history*
boygriv:
That's fucked up on a couple different levels.

I just realized that last night was the first full nght I spent completely alone in a house in at least a few years--no family, no friends, no partner. It was spooky. I've been housesitting out in the middle of nowhere, and on top of being all alone except for a cat, a dog, and a chinchilla, it was much, much darker and quieter than...

Hoyii. No posts because I have no life. I have worked everyday for the past few weeks, and only recently was able to afford certain necessities--like soap. This is because my partner and I are in wedding saving mode. (Do you know caterers go insane when it comes to assessing the value of their own work? $40 per person for a freaking buffet, I think...

Oh. I was talking about the weather. But yeah, it's good to know Humboldt might be shitty when I get there. You went there I take it?

So, I just finished typing my last final, and tomorrow the family shows up for graduation. Hooray! Now all I have to do is magically clean the apartment while I am at work. Wish me luck.

Oh, and I have summer plans now. I just recieved 21 (interesting) books from a retiring professor who I made friends with a few weeks ago. I should make...

I guess what connects law and anthropology for me is just a general interest in the way societies structure themselves, and the relationship between individuals and the state - they seem to go together really well because they study the nature of civilization.

And when do you leave to go to Uganda? Getting to study the Rwandan genocide sounds fascinating - its such a recent event, it'll be amazing to learn about it in a place where alot of people will still have very vivid memories of it.

And I'm quite jealous of you having finished your last final, my summer doesn't start for another 6 weeks. frown
