I just realized that last night was the first full nght I spent completely alone in a house in at least a few years--no family, no friends, no partner. It was spooky. I've been housesitting out in the middle of nowhere, and on top of being all alone except for a cat, a dog, and a chinchilla, it was much, much darker and quieter than my streetside apartment. It was so peaceful it was hard to sleep (plus there were scurrying noises in the bathroom that I chose not to investigate). But tonight Michael will come stay with me, so no more lonliness. Hooray for him!
