25 Random Things you probably know if you read my blog.
So there's this sorta questionnaire thing on running around on Facebook and in lieu of a real blog I'll post this. I have written one about the recently deceased Patrick McGoohan (the Prisoner) but due to the timeliness of the subject matter it will probably never see the light of day.
1. If I don't love or hate it, I don't care about it at all.
2. My only impetus to join any networking site has been cyber-stalking. Even LinkedIn. Though don't think if we're friends that I'm stalking you. I'm generally not friends with the stalkee. No stalkees on SG though.
3. I have a remarkable work ethic for paying jobs. My work ethic for non-paying (or even worse, pre-paid) jobs is proportional to my interest.
4. I'm very unorganized and cluttered.
5. I'm unbelievably horrible with names and faces and remembering people in general. Which leads into...
6. I was once told one of the ways to get a girl is the first time you meet her be really mean to her and then not see her for a long time. When she sees you again, subconsciously she'll recognize you and'll have an emotional reaction that she won't understand because she consciously doesn't remember you and will treat it as attraction. Now, when I don't know how I recognize someone, I subconsciously defer to dislike.
7. I am a faux-foodie. I understand what foodies are interested in and can talk (and taste) like a foodie but I generally don't eat like a foodie.
8. I think most modern art and art-critiques are complete b-s. Not sure I can even talk-the-talk on modern art anymore. "Compositionally there are diametrically opposing..." Nope. Can't do it. Cannot play with them. Cannot win with them. Cannot coach with them.
9. I did not go to the dentist for a score of years. Yes, I mean 20. I have extraordinarily good teeth and take decent care of them (apart from dental visits) so when I finally went back all I needed was a really good cleaning, to replace all my old fillings and had only 1 new cavity which was recent and the driving force behind my return. I've kept up with visits since.
10. I don't like how cynicism (d)evolved into snark.
11. I don't care about religion. Ergo I'm not religious. I'm not adamant in my anti-religion. I'd convert to any religion if it made life easier but deep down - don't care. If you exist, good for you! I exist too. You don't gotta worship me, I don't gotta worship you.
12. I have something against comedy. I love to laugh but you have to literally force me watch a comedian or show cuz... well I don't know. But getting me to see new comedy is nigh impossible.
13. It is not in my nature to keep in touch with people. This does not mean I do not like them.
14. Despite being Chinese, I'm more a Japanophile. I can even speak more Japanese than Chinese.
15. I love comic books. In fact...
16. If it's nerd related I'm probably into it. And for me it's all encompassing. Most nerds only hit a few areas and specialize. There are very few genres of nerdom that I do not have at least a passing knowledge.
17. I am an artist. I have a degree in industrial design but am more illustrator than anything else. I try and draw regularly but it goes in spurts. I often wonder where all the talent and creativity I had in my youth went. Maybe it was just potential. It is unlikely I will ever create a complete comic again.
18. I was born in Morgantown, West Virginia.
19. I often like bad movies more than good ones. It's a background noise thing. Put a bad movie on and you can do stuff. You can ignore it and maybe show up for the cool parts. Put a good movie on and you sorta have to watch it.
20. I used to love to read novels but now I have to force myself.
21. The music I like ranges from alternative/goth/punk to classical to techno-dance to a little bit of pop to the classic rock I grew up with. Y'know, stuff you grow up with is like family. You don't really have a choice in liking it.
22. I have quirk (slight OCD?) which involves recording and, since I bought a dvd recorder, editing TV shows and burning them onto dvd. Since I got the DVD recorder I develeped a pariticular desire to record Award Shows including Red Carpet. I have made dvds of most award shows from 2004 to present.
23. The only other thing that's almost OCD is with rolls of candy like Sweet Tarts or Spree. I open the packs and organize them by color/flavor and eat them in the order of worst to best flavor. I mostly can resist doing this in public. Mostly.
24. I don't have a favorite food but am rather fond of the proteins. That's foodie talk for meat. Steak, ribs, anything pig related - bacon, ham, pork chops, etc. I like sushi too, not the rolls (they're fine) but the chunk-o-fish on top of rice.
25. I'm a romantic at heart. (I know, have I read any of the stuff I wrote before this? What can I say, people are complex.)
