I made another drawing of my favorite SG:
And then she did a color remix of it:
We've been thinking and talking about color, intending to paint our apartment sometime within the next few weeks, as well as create decorative paintings for the space. Have I mentioned that I love color? Like, really really love looking and thinking about it? I don't intellectualize it, really, but working with color gives me those happy brain waves where I feel all zoned-out and flow-y.
For example, I made about fifteen variations on the image above, before I settled on the version I posted.
Have you all seen Matisse's cut outs? I get it, you know? It's fucking FUN.
Mmmmmm, color. </Homer>

My friend is deploying again, and he's decided to get a tattoo before he goes. He wants to get the compassion mantra: Om Mani Padme Hum.

"There is not a single aspect of the eighty-four thousand sections of the Buddha's teachings which is not contained in Avalokiteshvara's six syllable mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum", and as such the qualities of the "mani" are praised again and again in the Sutras and Tantras.... Whether happy or sad, if we take the "mani" as our refuge, Chenrezig will never forsake us, spontaneous devotion will arise in our minds and the Great Vehicle will effortlessly be realized."
