Here is my list:
Tonight, I'm going to see Burning Spear! So stoked. Last night, my folks were all here:
From left to right: Suzanne, Steph, me, and the elusive and mysterious jessej.
JJ brought over Nina Simone Live, featuring recently complied footage from 1961 and 1962; very powerful and an impressive introduction into what made her such a unique voice.
I know it's almost blasphemy, but I think the conga player was my favorite part, followed closely by the bass player. He was such a poindexter 60s cool guy, and he had a lovely groove.

* or we'll have to send over a group of hard-eyed fat men to explain to you why it is a really good idea that you comply.

Fat Timmy was just here and roughed me and the place up a bit.
So what am I good at? Hmmm.....
1) Seeing. Not just looking, but seeing.
1a) Contrast with bad at vision, especially in my right eye.
2) Synthesis. Arguably my only real skill. Some people call this "thinking outside the box". What box?
2a) Contrast with bad at rote linear thinking. Some people call that "stay within the lines." What damn lines?
3) Being a lazy-ass fuck-off.
3a) Contrast with being bad at being productive for it's own sake.
4) The great deception
4a) Contrast with being bad at being real. I suck at real.
5) Being depressed yet surviving (even thriving) (better living through chemistry!)
5a) Contrast with my being bad at Bobby Burns' "greatest giftie God can gie us"
6) Knowledge of bizarre and utterly useless arcana.
6a) Contrast with my being bad at knowledge necessary for ordinary day to day issues.
7) Superficial relationships.
7a) Contrast with my being bad at deep emotional contact. Way beyond bad. Far far far beyond bad.
8) Living in the past.
8a) Contrast with my total suckitude at living in the moment.
9) Dealing with inanimate objects in the absence of a user's manual.
9a) Contrast with being utterly lost in dealing with most people (doesn't anyone come with a user's manual????)
10) Commiting to too much shit -- I'm good at being bad at saying "no".
10a) Contrast with being really bad at actually getting everything I committed to done.
There. Happy now?
