2 Calgary schools ban scary Halloween costumes
Seriously? How about this?
O'Brien said while using the word caring can seem silly, this costume debate highlights a bigger issue in society where people feel their traditions are under fire because of cultural sensitivities.
They are. For two reasons. One, people are to afraid to piss off the minority. They got to have their rights to. Don't get me wrong. I believe everyone should get there say and be entitled to their beliefs. But that road goes two ways. I want to celebrate my holidays or beliefs the way I want to.
And second. We cater to whomever has the loudest voice. I bet you one, maybe two teachers at these schools had an Idea. They cried the loudest, got a couple parents on board, and then the entire school said ok.
But the idea behind Halloween. All Hallow's Eve. Dress up as scary ghost's and goblins to scare away the evil spirits. Don't get me wrong, I understand not all kids want to get dressed up as a ghost or goblin or whatever. Some like to dress up as a baseball player, or a princess. Sure, that's fine too. But it's the kids choice to dress up as whatever it is they want. This holiday is mainly a KIDS holiday. Let them have fun their way.
Next holiday, Christmas... Don't even get me started on that one. It's not Happy Holidays. It's MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS.
