doldrums of winter. i am not taking classes this semester as i attempt to find out if i have the add (attention deficit disorder) that runs quicksilver through my family. got to get a nerve removed from my foot so i can walk, bicycle and dance again, but in the meantime, no exercise and anti inflammatories just add to the general malaise. this will go on for another two months until the hmo decides what i already know--that they need to operate. so for both of these medical conditions i need to stay employed with the devil so i can afford my health insurance, and have all but given up my architectural studies. i may go back to languages (french, german, danish), which i would love, but i am rusty and it, too, is a bit daunting at the moment.
the ex now has a new girl, and a good thing it is; i hope he will be blissfully happy. i just had to cut the cord, though (note-missing picture above); this business of our being friends has never worked out very well for me. fare thee well, lover.
still not smoking. still reading ever more interesting books, seeing ever more interesting films (just saw aileen, life and death of a serial killer tonight--really good; fog of war & triplets of belleville last friday), and not getting into loud arguments with anyone. . .the light is there, at the end of the tunnel. it's not giving off much warmth, but it's within sight.

Dammit, why does the whole "being friends after dating" never work out? I've tried it three times, and I think it's about to happen again.
