I have been feeling sad all week after the murder of Abdirahman Abdi, a 37-year-old Somali(Canadian) man with autism at the hands of the Ottawa Police. Yesterday was a march to the Police station in protest, it is my week end with my son (who is high on the autism spectrum ) and I was thinking about taking him on this protest march but in the end we did not go (he would not have been up to it) but I am filled with pride has my ex and my daughters did go, it is sad the Police felt the best way to react was to go video tape all the protesters, it is also sad that nothing is going to happen to the two police who beat Abdi in the head with clubs after he was handcuffed and killed him. This is not the kind of world I want my children to live in, this is not acceptable and they must be held accountable for their actions. The law is the law and police are not above it.
Yep a very sad week, that could have been my boy, I have no words to express how I feel.....................
