While I like leaving up band's lyrics as a Journal forever... well, actually, I don't like that. I mean, that LCD Soundsystem song is funn, as are quite a few on their album (songs that slavishly imitate disco, The Fall, and Brian Eno, anyone??), but I wanted to say-
I feel good.
This is a feel-good blog. I just biked around Portland, and what a charming lil grungy town we have.
I saw Lauren K Newman play last night. She really is a crackhead (no skull-fracture jokes, please; yes, this is the woman I helped at the benefit show for, weeks back) with all her spazz, uncontrolled, lesbionic energy. She mostly stuck to hard-ass loud riffs, but broke out some SERIOUS Zappa/ Page leads, and at the end of her set did some John-Bonhamesque drum rolls justforthehellofit. Swallows (who also played the benefit) are a nice lil band, I think. I think I want to see them a third time. New York punkbians Marla Hooch also whooped an ostrich ass with a taser gun. Show felt good.
Went to Brewfest with bankerboy and his associates. Really liked Fearless Scottish Ale, and not just cuz I'm relentlessly Celtic-obsessed. It's like a cross between a stout and lager. Didn't like Full Sail Vesuvius. One word- bananaish. Also, Lucky Lab Anchors Aweigh is dogcrap.
I smoked a Island Delights cherry cigar, too. Don't ask me how I can hatehatehate cig smoke, yet enjoy a sweet, pipe-tobacco-like cigar. All I know is, 1) I can, 2) they do leave your mouth pretty funky the rest of the day, especially if you just had Ethiopian food... so don't light up before you make out. Brewfest felt good. And drunk.
I need for howdypardner to get back in town so we can go to movies! Clerks II, Pirates II and M Night Shyamalan!!! That'd feel good.
And new Bailey set! Mmmmmm. Feels gooood. Baaaailey.
Overall, I felt good. In an hour, who knows? But I wanted to uhh have the hubris to put this up. I'm sorry I don't blog like I used to. I used to read tons and tons of interesting facts in book reviews at my library, and be able to update blogs at my library, but while I still catch the New York Times section and New York Reviews of Books online and at local libraries, I seem to read a lot less, see less book reviews, and I also don't get Book TV interviews/ monologues since I don't have cable. I might get cable soon, for that, football, Colbert, and Bourdain.... depends how I feel financially. Oh, speaking of financially, I only have three more student loan payments to make. I"m freakin happy bout that. Getting back to blogging on SG, yeah, mine used to be better.... but I see lots of folks staying away from the site now. The new layout? Lack of novelty of SG in general? Switching to MySpace? Busy during summer months? I dunno. I just figured I'd throw out that 1) I'm noticing the decline in Journals, 2) including my own Journal, 3) I hope it'll bounce back, although maybe we'll all end up on some (sacrilege!) other site in the future that'll take the place of this one... and it'll be uh virtual reality 3D plasma high-def, maaan.

As for football, I'll let you know what is up. I sometimes like to spend a lazy Sunday morning at a sports bar like the Kingston on W. Burnside watching ball and having some pork products washed down with eggs and bloody marys.
