It was Automatic's birthday last night and after some drinks at The Triple Nickel I was definitely game to try the new experience (for me) of Devil's Point. Well, it was pretty damned fun.... I don't really see it as sexual, not to me anyway, but it was a fun hangout, no cover, some cool stage moves. They played lots of good punk rock (The Clash, The Buzzcocks, etc) and I had a nice Guinness and gave a buck to Stormy, who prob earned more but I was not so loaded with cash, mmmkay?
Today, I went outdoors a lot. I went to the farmers market and got some veggies and a basket of marionberries which I just ate (a pint for $1.50). I saw pygmy for a second (wish to see her n hubby more) and met my friend miguelitooooo, who is a pretty great music-biz guy... not in terms of getting rich or being a scenester, but of putting out some real-deal brilliant stuff via compilations in his well-damn-informative magazines and such. I also went to the beautiful Japanese Gardens; I wish you all could see this place someday. It's kinda like the Chinese Gardens in the National Arboretum, but way larger and better (and Japanese)(and surrounded by giant fir trees). They did a demo there of a traditional tea ceremony this afternoon. I also went to Tryon State Park, more giant firs and trees. Lots of bugs, but thankfully they didn't swarm around you, they were just numerous.
I was glad to get some quality time with friends last night and today; lifted my spirits, and all these great outdoor places are a real antidote to the concrete and steel. Now maybe to make dinner and more Ali G-ing. Respek.
