Saw Seu Jorge on Tuesday night, with opening singer Jehro (short for Jrme Cotta). Jehro was absolutely fantastic, just him on guitar/ singin and another guitarist, with some beat-samples mixed in. He comes from France, with mixed heritage, but his music is a blend of Caribbean styles. I think this is the only time I've seen an audience clamor for an encore from an opening act that just wasn't coming... for whatever reason, it seems his set-length was strictly limited. I loved his voice. At the time, I came up with the phrase "like a cracked-out Terence Trent D'arby," but the folks on Amazon just say "like an angel," and maybe that's more, uh, fitting or complimentary.
Seu Jorge was great too; he only did one Bowie track, but then I didn't expect more than that, as he has his own music. His band consisted of bass; drums/percussionist; percussionist; himself, of course; and a ukelele/ drummmer/ percussionist. I'm tempted to say Jehro's the better songwriter... but the differences of quality between the two acts are infinitesimal. Seu's band brings the fiesta Brasil, no doubt. Seu's is a little harder to recognize now; he has mop-hair over his face and a bushy van dyke beard. I'm trusting it was, in fact, him.
Finally got my couch moved out... to a friend's place. Still have to sell it. Nmmmm. Rhubarb cake w/ strawb ice cream is off da hook.

Your cake comment gave me an instant wish to walk to this cake place in the village and pick some up. I'm sorta craving a strawberry shortcake. <insert drooling icon>
