CHEECH vs THE NON-PINK ROBOTS; my continuing adventures against 21st Cent. technology.
Sorry I've been offline for a couple of days. My wireless connection stopped working on Thursday. The little icon thingy for my wireless-plug-in-antenna wasn't green anymore; it was white with a moving red line, I guess indicating it couldn't find a signal... but my computer was saying the antenna thing worked, I just had no signal. Funny, since I hadn't changed a damned thing.
So I looked up an IP number, a subnet mask number, and a default gate number on my roomie's computer. I'm not sure if this is what helped, since I didn't seem to get results right away, so I then did these crucial 3 steps:
1) dicked around the settings
2) changed the settings by dicking around
3) DECKED DEM SETTINS ARON DAR, MON
and it just started working. I have no idea, either. I was thinking maybe I was on the signal of a neighbor who's moving out, and then maybe found ours, using my cunning comp skills, or blindly stumbled onto yet someone else's signal. Who knows.
I had a real great time again Thurs night with the folks. Last night I took it easy, since I'm looking at a potential 4 nights out in a row (karaoke, Sunday Sermon, Acid Mothers Temple, Portland Jazz Jams) and re-watched Gosford Park. So many great actors in there (I forgot Emily Watson was even in it), and more Big Cheech Crushes than you've had hot tamales: Emily, Kelly Macdonald, this one lady I dunno a name, and of course Helen F-ing Mirren. Just got back from market w/ pygmy + the Bug and got greens yay. Yeah, pretty mellow-azz couple days, and volunteer job still goin fine; maybe excitement the next few nights.
Some more library CDs:
Led Zepp- How the West Was Won- Nice to score the multi-live discs for free.
Son House- 1941-42 Lib of Congress Sessions
Greenhornes- East Grand Blues EP
Marianne Faithfull- Vagabond Ways
Van Morrison- St Dominic's Preview (previously owned on vinyl)
Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band- Gorilla (has Neil Innes who wrote all the Rutles songs; the song titles/ album art formats suggest maybe a Zappa-esque band... also features "Death Cab for Cutie" from the Beatles MM Tour fame and later-band-name fame)

Dude, computer troubles. Hey did you ever get some cd's. Let me know, if not I'll bring you a couple to see how they work. I loved that Brian Eno link. Sometimes he can be a little random.

Laura's stuff is really good. I downloaded it off of MySpace a while back.
