A lot of the stuff I have to do every day is pretty inane. Wake up early, go do some motivated PT, being belligerent about everything. Then I just hurry up and wait. Normally, being a Grunt, I'd have started drinking by 10 AM, but I can't do that anymore. Our command has started giving random breathalyzers, and anyone caught drinking while 'on Duty' (which isn't accurate at all- Real duty consists of sitting at a desk for 24 hours and getting to the point where you talk to a wall just to hear if there is an echo) is promptly NJP'd.
Now, I'm all for being responsible during work hours, but come on, Marine Corps- let us relax a little after you've been consistently fucking us for an extended amount of time.
But I digress...
As I just got back from this last pump, we haven't really done much. Shitty post-deployment leave, way too short... And a couple 96's thrown in there. Not much free time for a guy that has just been working for just over 7 months, around the clock. Our unit's Ball is tomorrow night in Myrtle Beach, so that's gonna be a shitshow and a half.
If you couldn't tell already, cussing, swearing, whatever you want to call it, is an important part of my everyday life. Can't say a single noun out loud without adding a modifier like 'Fucking' or 'God Damn'.
Anyway, after I get off work every day, I'm out of cammies less than 5 minutes after we've been cut. I live in the barracks with 2 roommates, so it's pretty convenient. Then I'm either drinking or on my way to a liquor store.
Let me stop that 'Alcoholic' train of thought right there. I'm not dependant on alcohol, I don't drink to drown my misery on a daily basis. I just enjoy drinking. And I have an insanely high tolerance for it. Woo.
By the end of the night, I'm either wondering where I'm sleeping, if not at my barracks, or getting some food to sober up so I don't get whiskey dick or some other terrible problem. Or I'm just blacked out, and then... fuck it. Three sheets to the wind.
You know how I usually PT in the mornings?
Hungover or still drunk.
Rinse with rum and repeat.
(This is a shot from the LSA I was in 4 days before I left Afghanistan.)
