Have a look at this and what I circled:
I am most certain that this mystery flower of yours (which is INCREDIBLE!) is a hybrid of this flower. I got a version of it in my shop once and it actually looked more like your fella. Unfortunately I have no idea what its name is but I'll find out next time we get exotics. Where was this picture taken? It's hard for me to imagine such a gem outside Hawaii. And it was hanging upside down? If you have time to kill, search images for either tropical, exotic or Hawaiian flowers and you will be bound to come upon it. Let me know when you do!
