So I had the pleasure of interviewing the dark and brooding Nathan Bowling from Order of Leviathan about their upcoming rituals and some of the reasons behind their music!
1. Please tell us a little back story on your members, how you met and what you stand for.
A:The Order was created 2 years ago by myself and Levi Crandall. We have since gone through several line up changes, but this collective feels right. This line up is the cult of wolves.
Our message is Darkness and Misanthropy. The world man lives in and the society that it has crafted is a passioness void, we wish to transcend far beyond this hollow existence, and art, true art, is the only thing that I have found that does that.
2. How long has The Order been around and making music?
A: We’ve been creating art for 2 years, but we’ve only started performing live rituals since the summer of 2013.
3. What are your biggest influences?
A: I can’t answer for the Order, but my influences are early Black Metal, Nature, Cornac McCarthy, exhaustion and starvation. There’s something beautiful in lack of sleep. It’s another form of euphoric transcendency for me.
4. What kinds of emotions are you trying to portray with the music you are playing?
A: Hate would be the emotion that I express the most, I suppose. It’s hard to say, because when we’re performing live rituals, I’m not there mentally, I’m where ever the ritual takes me. Though my lyrics express complete negativity, the songs are quite therapeutic for me.
5. What are the best and worst things about touring?
A: The best part of touring is the sense of freedom and lawlessness that you feel.
The worst part is missing my animals back home.
6. How can my followers check out your music and/or merch?
A: www.orderofleviathancult.com is where you can find ritual dates, merchandise, news, and our music. You can also purchase our EP ( The Infernal Path To Total Darkness) on iTunes.
So if you’re as intrigued as I was by these guys be sure to check out their tour dates! They will be coming to my neck of the woods here shortly and I’m making a point to see their live ritual!
