As most of you will already know, what with having other choir peeps on your friends lists, choir tour was awesome. There was much "gong showery" (which phrase I had never used until this tour, because goddamn everyone was using it) and many "scenic vistas" (ask glass_cat), not to mention much good eating due to the fact that nearly all our billets were of the "University students? You must never ever eat! We shall stuff you so you may be properly nourished at least this once!" type.
However, the letdown from coming back, while mitigated yesterday by the fact that I spent the whole day snuggled up to mr_dave, has today been exacerbated by the fact that I had to take my cat in to be put down. She wasn't eating nearly enough to survive and she had arthritis in both her back legs and so was having serious issues with walking (which, for whatever reason, she was ignoring. She walked like she wasn't in pain, jumped up onto things higher than she had in ages presumably due to the fact that she could since she no longer had all the extra weight dragging her down), and was clearly getting progressively sicker. So we decided to take her in today (after having discussed it for months, since she started losing weight and having problems walking), while she was still relatively happy and not in constant (unignorable) pain.
I really think the worst part of it is the fact that the last thing in the world I did with her is to pick her up and take her into the car, and then to the vet. We fed her a pill that was theoretically going to sedate her so she wouldn't freak out on the way to the vet's (Mom went and got it from them earlier today), but it definitely didn't work. The poor thing was so terrified, she left claw marks all over the rubber next to the window in the car. I wish it had been possible for the last thing she knew to be something happy, not something scary. I feel like I betrayed her.
Sigh.
I'll probably post later about how tour went, more for the sake of reminding myself in the future than for your edification, but I'll try to keep the obscure references to a minimum for your sakes anyway.
