it all begins waaaaaaaaay back, two fridays past.... (9/9, for those keeping tabs)....
i woke up all kinds of early, got a ton of administrative stuff done around school (including picking up my only-slightly-worn pair of black and white
chuck taylors--bought on e-bay along with the rest of my life). after all that, it was time to grab an all-day metro pass and dash off to the LES for a job interview at American Apparel. the interview went rather shittily, much to my dismay. my interviewer seemed dreadfully apathetic. back to brooklyn, where i ate on our lovely balcony and slipped out of the "interview attire".....
....then it was time to head back to the L.E.S. to take pictures, finishing up my photography homework. on the way to the park, i stopped by for a visit at
Last Rites for a visit with the fabulous
ymonster, who was absolutely working his ass off (as per usual
). after spotting this lovely contemplative tag on the side walk:
.....i headed to there park, where i not only witnessed my first crack deal, but exposed my whole damn row of pictures and broke my camera.
gah! it's a good thing i still had soemthing to look forward to--SG GIRL'S NIGHT! woohoo! after the mess with my camera (and the park getting sketchy after dark), i took to walking around and exploring a bit. wee! then dinner with
stella_marie,
Krrn,
Irina, along with
LolaBlu and
Verandi (two lovely ladies whom I'd never met before!
). meeting new people is fantastic, and the food was fabulous. here are all the lovlies! (the first is my shot, in which
verandi was cut out of--the second is
stella_marie's shot; decidedly better, non?
)
so pretty.
the next morning i went to central park (to re-do my photo assignment.... GRRR) and i beheld this fabulous sight:
YES, IT IS TRUE--the sky-writing planes really DID write "BLING BLING" in the sky. best thing ever. well. maybe. *shrugs*
i also finally received both my polaroid camera AND film.... and as soon as i loaded my camera, i accidentally took a picture. oops? it's kinda cool though.... i messed around with the emulsion and it hardly even looks door-ish anymore--i love polaroids.
expect more in the future!
(the rest of the weekend was pretty meh indeed.)
but this past weekend.... a different story all together!
it began friday morning--veeeeeeerrrrrry early. i woke up and got myself ready, then headed uptown to meet
sixela to grab some flyers from her to promote the CMJ/
Tarantulas Records/SuicideGirls show at
The Delancey friday night. after that, i headed into lovely midtown to pass out the flyers to people getting their CMJ badges, and after that, into williamsburg (because heck, that just makes sense). i was a promoting machine, yo.
i met up with friend/photographer at MILK studios/recent VT-to-Brooklyn-transplant, angelo, in williamsburg for some internet cafe, iced-coffee, and chit-chat. we met his friend/friend's girlfriend, and again headed midtown to see if we could convince an aquaintence to get us into the Betsy Johnson fashion week show (GOOD GOD, I WOULD HAVE WEPT TEARS OF JOY).... but we were pretty shit outta luck on that front.... we did, however, score some fashion week gift bags.... complete with lacoste bags, MAC make-up, strawberry daqueri mix, a pre-copy of candace bushnell's (of sex and the city fame) new book, tons of makeup (and anti-aging stuff....?) and some diet pills. haha. oh, irony. there was lots of other promo stuff in there..... college kids LOVE free things!
after lunch on the LES (oh yes, again), i headed home to get ready for the show, and then back again to the LES (thank heavens for one-day passes....) for the show. it. was. great. the lot six and the static age are two of my flavorite bands, +plus+ the show gave me a chance to see the SuicideGirls DVD and catch up with the lovely
JaiDee again.
(i don't know why i like taking feet shots at shows.... maybe because i'm so short?)
after an exhausting subway ride home (oh, G train.... I HATE YOU), and being yelled at by some guy in the street at 2:30 am that i "looked exotic", i still had the energy to take a picture of the awesome shirt i reconstructed last spring (and wore for the first time saturday). i figure you all on SG will appreciate it.
(yes, that is a naked woman in a cowboy hat hugging a large gold coin to her gigantic boobies.)
i also snagged an SG sticker at the show, and became an SG pirate:
(haha, oh come on, humor me, will ya? it's kind of.... amusing....? )
saturday i had an interview at a cute little vintage store which i reeeeeeaaaaaly hope i land a job at. it went decidedly better than the AA interview, i will say that.... afterward i discovered the timer on my camera (duh, jess, duh....) and i played around in the bathroom a bit (results of boredom/procrastination can be seen below....)
(the rest of the weekend=having some amazing sex and then working on the world's most fabulous pink fuzzy sparkly legwarmers).
and now concludes the intensity that was the UPDATE OF DOOM (*echoes*). if you read it all, you deserve a cookie--and my undying affection, of course!
thank you for your comments...and i see that yes...we do have the COOLEST bday! and you are from manch...i know a lot of people from there...when were you there??
