Who Would Jesus Bomb?
Here's a little about me before I get started. I grew up going to Catholic church and never missing a service. As an adult I spent quite a bit of time in a fundamentalist Christian church. I am not a biblical scholar but I do have a pretty firm grasp of Jesus' message. I am not a practicing Christian and the fact is that it would embaress me to say that I was. I believe in God whole heartedly. I read a lot, am very open minded and I practice meditation.
So that out of the way... My question is why is it that Fundamentalist Christians across the board support the war? How could someone calling themselves "Christian" be behind killing other humans. What happened to "turn the other cheek"
Luke 6
29If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.
Mathew 5
43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
Matthew 22
39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
How can anyone claiming to be Christ Like support a war for any reason much less one based squarely on greed and a single individual's agenda. I tell you this. Jesus, just like most great spiritual leaders were lovers of peace. If you look at his teaching's they are all about peace and compassion. He was a pacifist not a war lord.
It anger's me to know end that our fundamentalist Christian president kills thousands and that his fundamentalist Christian flock follows like lambs. Is the only issue that you all ever consider abortion? What about those already born? Have you seen the thousands of innocent people murdered by this administration? Have you noticed the many billions we have spent on a war that is unjust?
I have to say that my experience with the Christian church is that it is based on fear. It keeps people in line by the fear of eternal damnation. Out of one side of the church's mouth they speak about love but when the chips are down it's OK to kill if someone offends.
What is your relationship with God based on? Fear or Love. If it's truly love then you can't support a war of any kind much less one based on lies and manipulation. You can always rationalize by turning to some miscellaneous scripture in the Old Testament but I ask you... What would Jesus do? Would the Jesus you claim to be your savior be bombing innocent people?
Think about... Read about it... Open your mind to the possibility that what this country is doing is wrong.
I think Ghandi said it best "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
