Vacation Blog!
Okay So techpirate8 and i went back to Mass to see friends, family, and the like. And here is my record of it looking back.
4am getting up to catch the train to catch the plane.
We caught the first train, and made it to the airport. How ever I wasn't able to print tickets ahead of since I found out I was out of ink. So we had to wait to check in. And then rush to get through security. We were told twice the wrong line to stand in for security. And then they forced us into the head of the line. At that point there is still 15 people in front of us and boarding has started and the plane is set to take of in like 20 minutes.
We each had two carry on luggage pieces, they make you take off jackets, shoes, belts, etc, had to take the computer out of my carry one so they can scan it alone. Tanya makes it through security first. Then I make it through. I am throwing my stuff back in my bags, and carrying my shoes with me (I was sure we had taken too much time), and then I am just about running through the airport, I get there when there are like 4 or 5 other people waiting to get on the plane. Tanya catches up and we board the plane. This is where I get enough time to put my sneakers on before lift off.
Long flight to Newark New Jersey first. I started off the flight by reading my Xmen-Star Trek Next Gen Cross over book.
Then I start to fade since it's a long flight. So I put my head down at an awkward angle. I start to doze off and then suddenly there is a screaming child. But I live in an apartment complex and I can tune that one. When the second child started to scream I knew it was then a lost cause. So I accept my fate of being awake. We got egg sandwiches on the flight. Someone once said HELL IS REPETITION, when you can't have the focus to read, there are two screaming kids and you can hear the stewardess 15 rows away asking everyone person (6 people per row): "Egg Sandwich?" That is hell.
But after that I stole Tanya's DS and played ChronoTrigger for the remainder of the trip. Land in Newark, and we are once again on the rush to catch our flight but we have 30 minutes to make it across the airport. But that was just enough time to stoop at the Happiest Place on earth.
Then after a 45 minute delay, and enjoy a double chocolate and a boston creme donut we catch our second flight that lands us at TF Green Airport in Providence RI. Pick up the car, and drive to my Mom's house. I get there and my brother had taken the train into go to dinner with us. We went out to dinner at Applebee's. Which they have in California I just never make it out. Plus it was something we used to do as a family, and we all LOVE their honey mustard sauce. The surprise was my brother bought us all dinner as an Xmas gift.
Now to most people that wouldn't seem unusual. But my borther and I fought tooth and nail growing up. And three years ago when I was out there. My mom and her husband had to go to a funeral, and my brother was asked to take me to the airport. But he wanted to drink with his friends so he dropped me off at the air port like 4 hours early. So this time him just being a good spirit and treating us out as an Xmas gift was out of character.
He dropped him off at the train station and went home. Slept in my step sister's bed, and Tanya took the air mattress on the floor. It's just weird because my step sister put her bed in the same spot my bed was. But we slept through the night okay. Well... strike that I slept okay, and got up at like 10am. Tanya didn't sleep so well, and I took the air mattress for the rest of the trip. We got up that next day and headed off to meet up with my friend Tina from High School. A little bit of background on her. She was one my closets friends in High School, we went off to the same college, and then things fell apart. I think there was romantic tension that was never explored, and that didn't work when we were both dating other people in college. We had a falling out. But here is the gal who I talking about.
Tanya and I met her at Friendly's. Which is another one of those restaurants you can't find in California. It was good to talk to her, and she and Tanya got along pretty well. They are both the type that would slug me if they think I am getting out of line. I topped the lunch off with a conehead sundae. Which is the kiddie sundae from their menu.
The next day I woke up and appreciated the snow.
The next day I woke up earlier then previous days (I think it was by 9am). I got on the road and stopped and Dunkin Donuts. And then I was on my way to meet Catie. Catie is the daughter of my mom's best friend growing up. She is the closest thing to a cousin that I have, that I saw on a regular basis growing up. she is a good kid, she is in her senior year of college. I stopped off and saw her for lunch, and went out for pizza. It was good to see her, I have a strange bond with her, we are both the first born, and the good kids out of the family, but we are never going to be the favorites.
From there we hit the road again and drove up to New Hampshire to meet with my grandmother. That was kind strange, my grandmother is an interesting character and her and Tanya talked about theater for a while, and then we heard stories about where she has been doing her story tellings. (She is profesisonal story teller for schools/libraries/etc...)
From there we tried to get a hold of Tanya's friend but she bailed on us by making other plans for the day. (Bailed Plans #1) We went home and had dinner with my mom and her husband. (Homemade Dinner #1)
The next day was xmas eve, I got a hold of another friend of mine from HS named Andy met.
*PS I just spilled rum & coke on my keyboard and killed it. This is Tanya's keyboard so I can finish typing up my blog.*
I met Andy for dinner. Awkward conversation with someone who has little social skills, and if the topic is not the current DnD game he is playing the conversation stalled. But I got a phone number for another friend of mine.
I went home and slept again.
The Next day was Xmas proper. It was good to see family. Got nerf guns from two different family members. And so did my brother and Tanya. It just shows that they know we would all duke it out, and Tanya needed one to protect herself with. Got to see my step nephew. Who labeled me, "Creepy Scary Man" Little kids are fun.
The next day we got up early again. We drove down to New Jersey to see Tanya's aunt down there. It took 4 hours to make it down to her place. (remember that it will come into play later.) We got there and her two cousins are a trip. He cousin Shawn is 13 and playing COD2, and calling everyone who isn't playing as cheesy as he is, a noob. I don't think i was that obnoxious when I was his age. his sister Shara is the shy quite type, but she has the Wednesday Adams serial killer thing going on.
Her Aunt and Uncle are good folks, her uncle is a comic book geek, who is also in a bad. Her aunt is crafty by nature and profession. Saw the rest of her family that came up that night. The next day hung out with her aunt and the cousins while her uncle was out at the last Giant's Game, in the current stadium. Then the time came to head out. He headed out and hit a little bit of traffic, so I sent Ravioli a text message to let her know we were running late on the plans to meet up with her. But we got a message back saying she was actually out on a date (Bailed plans #2). But we got stuck in the traffic of the last game at Giant's stadium for 2 hours. We stopped at McDonalds, and then made it home in time to spend a quite night at my mom's house with Tanya. It was nice to be able to spend some alone time with her, and have no other family members around.
The next day I got a hold of the guy my friend gave me the number of. And went out to lunch with Stevo. Stevo is a year younger then I am, and has two year old son. I didn't get to see his sun but it was good to chat with him. He is one of the few people I know from my HS days with any social skills. Tanya and I met him for lunch at UNOS. Another place we don't have back west. Talked to him for about 3 hours, and he even bought us lunch. (That was a nice touch I wasn't expecting.) Did a sit down dinner with my mom and her husband that night. **NOTE HOME MEAL #2**
The next day I was set to meet with my friend Jess from the days when I worked at Home Depot. I had been playing facebook tag with her trying to make plans. Some one you may remember her from my vacation blog a year and half ago. She is the lesbian, who I guess I fit the 1% of guys that work for her. She is the one who lesbian certified my tongue. I was planning on taking her and Tanya out and getting a hotel room. But it turned out she couldn't get a baby sitter, because her mom was supposed to be working, but her mom called in sick. So we hung out at her place. It was good that Tanya and her got along, but never got a chance to find out just how well all three of us could have gotten along.
When I got out of there I went to Taco Bell since Tanya and I had a not had dinner yet. We wound waiting in live at the drive through for almost 15 minutes.
Next day was my last day in the east coast. I stayed in and talked with my mom and hung out. That night we had lobstah!
That is my mom and real lobstah! That night I got up at 3am and flew back home. It was a long and crazy fun trip. But that is my vacation!
PS rdpixie this is because you doubted my real blogging skills.
