It was a picture perfect Carolina blue sky spring day today. Here's what's going on the in the kitchen garden:
Lots of lettuce from Fall and early Spring plantings
Kale- we've been harvesting leaves since January
Spinach - more coming in other beds coming in in a few weeks after this group
Garlic - can't WAIT! Planted in Fall, this will be ready in late

They are settling into their new homestead nicely. Fresh eggs starting in approx. 4 months. :-)
To take your minds off other events, here are some pics from our trip to the NC Zoo yesterday. It was our first time to this outstanding park- over 500 acres- largest in the U.S.
On yesterday's hike along the river we found these little Trout Lily beauties bursting out everywhere.
