luna made me do it.

That seemed appropriate since he got me ranting on and on and on about people being "offended" and the like. He was talking about games and tee-shirts and that made me think about tee-shirts and schools and...this is what came out of my noodle...
I hear about and read in the paper about things that happen in schools today and it truly disgusts me. I think schools have become one of the most repressive enviroments ever. Any thought that someone may construe as offensive becomes the subject of punnishment. Oh, I'm sorry are you offended? I say, good. It would do you some good to BE OFFENDED and THEN to MAKE A CASE AS TO WHY that statement was wrong. No - you just want to go running to the principal or the school board (Insert relevant Mark Twain quote here - "In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing." ) How many times have you heard about a student being suspended or reprimanded for wearing a t-shirt that someone found offensive or disruptive. Disruptive? Its a fucking t-shirt? How does a t-shirt act disruptive. It doesn't. It doesn't do anything at all - it is a t-shirt. What's disruptive or offensive is that someone would take the time and effort to suspend someone for wearing one that they or in most cases someone else didn't like.
I believe that all ideas have the right to be espoused. Throw it out there and let it be debated. An idea never hurt anyone. The MISUSE or IMPRACTICAL APPLICATION of an idea has, but the proffering of an idea has not. The school system today seems to me to be about stifiling ideas and doing everything per political correctness and rote. I can't abide by that.
