The Deviant Corps
Director: “The initial phase of the project was a success. We were able to graft the head of the subject onto the new body and she has 100% mobility in all portions of her body. She also has full sensory functions and her cybernetics rejection is now at zero. However, we are having increasing difficulty keeping her under control. Her behavior has become very erratic and the psychologists fear that she may be unstable.”
Security Captain: “How so?”
Director: “She's becoming increasingly aggressive towards the medical and security staff. She broke one of the guard's spine in four places the other week over a simple command.”
Security Captain: “How are you treating her?”
Director: “A mix of psychotropic drugs but her resistance to them is increasing far more than anticipated. We fear the nanites that control her internal healing process may have somehow adapted to block the drug's effects.”
Security Captain: “So what do you want me to do about this?”
Director: “I need a four fold increase in security personnel. If she goes out of control our current forces are not going to be able to stop her.”
Security Captain: “Are you insane? Do you have any idea how much attention that kind of request will bring? This is a black op doctor, we can't just go hat in hand to the government bean counters and expect them to start writing checks.”
Director: “Right now she could easily overpower our forces. Her skin is fully bullet resistant and her bones are virtually unbreakable. Our weapons are not enough to kill or even incapacitate her if she tries to break free. We've explored every contingency Captain and we can only come up with one viable plan to subdue her.”
Security Captain: “And that is?”
Director: “We have to wear her down with continuous, sustained attacks. Soldiers will rotate in and out re-arming and resting forcing Merrywidow to fight continuously. She's strong and tough but she is not immune to fatigue. If we force her to fight for a minimum of six hours she will be so exhausted we can finally subdue her.”
Security Captain: “Do you have any concept of what you are asking me to do? You aren't asking for a security force, you want a full scale army. Its going to take time to pull the kind of strings needed to obtain that kind of force.”
Director: “We have no choice captain, this is the only way.
Merrywidow walks down the hallway followed by two security guards.
Director: “Merrywidow is a bomb waiting to go off and we're running out of time.”
One of the guards reaches for Merrywidow's butt but the other knocks his hand away.
Guard: “Don't you idiot! She crushed the back of the last guy who tried that.”
Guard 2: “She's just a girl, how tough can she be?”
Merrywidow spins on her heel, grabs the guard by the throat and lifts him in the air.
Merrywidow: “Tougher than you!”
Guard: “Drop him! I won't warn you again!”
Merrywidow: “Go ahead and shoot.”
The guard points his gun at her head.
Merrywidow: “Do it! What are you waiting for a card from your mommy?!”
Guard: “I-I'll do it! I swear!”
Merrywidow throws the second guard's unconscious body at him.
Merry widow: “What's the matter big man. Scared of a little girl?!”
Gunshots ring out from behind her and several bullets bounce off Merrywidow's back.
Guard 3: surrounded by teammates. “Freeze! Back away now!”
Merrywidow: Stalks towards the new guards. “All anyone wants to do around here is boss me around and feel me up. Well I'm not going to let that happen, NOT ANYMORE!”
An alarm sounds in the director's office and he rushes towards a video monitor.
Security: “Sir! The subject is on a rampage, six guards down. Medical is on the scene.”
Director: “Where is she?! What happened?”
Security Captain: Points a gun at the back of the Director's head and fires. Once he is sure the director is dead he pulls out a radio. “Team one, Merrywidow is on the infirmary level, move in and cover. Team two, get the truck ready to roll.”
Merrywidow charges down a hallway as bullets fly in her direction. Some miss and those that hit her just bounce off. A barricade has been set up but she crashes through it sending armed guards flying. One of the guards drops his gun and screams: “Screw this!” before trying to run away only to get clotheslined. Merrywidow stands over the other guard his submachine gun in her hands.
Guard: “Don't shoot!” *Merrywidow knocks the gunbutt into his head knocking him out.
Voice: “Is that how you always treat your prisoners?”
Merrywidow: “What? He said don't shoot so I didn't shoot. What the hell are you?”
Deathshade: “Your ticket out of here.”
Merrywidow: “And I should believe you why?”
A door behind Deathshade opens up and four guards come rushing into the hallway. Deathshade quickly slashes their weapons to pieces before any of them has a chance to say a word. Merrywidow walks towards them cracking her knuckles.
Merrywidow: “Works for me. Give me a sec. Will ya?”
The guards all look at one another before turning around and running down the hallway away from them.
Merrywidow: “Hmph. Figures. What did you say your name was?”
Deathshade: “Deathshade. Now if you could please follow me, our ride is waiting for us.”
Both women walk through a huge double door into what looks like a loading dock only to find ten guards split into two teams of five on either side of a truck with a machine gun mounted on top of it.
Team Captain: "Director we have them but there is someone with Merrywidow, please advise.”
No response. The guards look at one another nervously.
Deathshade: “Their leader appears to be down. The confusion will create an excellent opportunity to strike.”
Merrywidow: “You take the right side, I'll take the left.”
Deathshade: “Agreed.”
Merrywidow charges into the center of the guard team on the left side of the truck. All of them fire at her and hit her but she doesn't even flinch. Merrywidow knocks out the center guard and uses his body as a weapon to take out the other guards. Deathshade runs along the wall towards the ceiling outrunning the fire arcs of the soldiers firing at her. She leaps off the ceiling impaling one of the guards with both of her swords then jump kicks another guard hitting him in the face with both feet. She then slashes the remaining guards across the limbs forcing them to drop their guns. The man on the truck turns the machine gun towards Deathshade but she slashes it clean off the mount before he can fire and holds her sword to his throat.
Deathshade: “Open the loading bay door.”
The guard opens the door and another truck is waiting outside.
Deathshade: “Thank you.” She knocks him out.
Security Captain: “I see you made it. Great job.”
Deathshade: “It was a little challenging but I think I speak for us both when I say let's get out of here.”
Merrywidow: From behind. “Uh guys..?”
Security Captain: “Oh... my.”
Merrywidow: Clinging to the tattered remnants of her clothing. “I don't suppose you've got an extra uniform in there? XXXL?”
Two days later at HQ.
Director Hawthorne: “So Agent Jacobs this is your new team, Deviant Corps?”
Agent Jacobs: “Yes sir. Merrywidow and Deathshade you are already familiar with. Zero G we found in a Vegas Casino making security guards fly about whilst hacking the video poker machines wirelessly. She loves computers, especially the ones with money attached to them. We aren't sure how she obtained her powers to change he direction of the pull of gravity. Gunmetal was drummed out of the army under 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' during the second Iraq war. He later worked for Blackwater and was their scapegoat when that little scandal broke. He can manipulate metal that he touches into any form he chooses but loves to attach lots of guns to his body and turn himself into a walking arsenal. Firenado, like Merrywidow was a privateer experiment gone wrong. Broke out forty years ago and they just found him trying to live a normal life. He can manipulate fire in any way he so chooses but his favorite trick to spin in place and turn himself into a living firenado.”
Director Hawthorne: “Quick question agent. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND?!”
Agent Jacobs: lifts one eyebrow but shows no other emotion. “Sir?”
Director Hawthorne: “Look at this list. Forty six arrests between all the members of your team. Merrywidow was once being investigated for fraud and Deathshade has been investigated for murder more times than Al Capone. Zero-G still has multiple outstanding warrants for felony hacking, assault and battery, prostitution and grand larceny. Gunmetal is still wanted for questioning in connection with multiple weapons charges by Interpol! Firenado, my favorite is a serial arsonist whose favorite targets are corporate warehouses and Hummers. This isn't a team, its a crime ring!”
Agent Jacobs: “How do you stop the world's greatest jewelry thief? You give them a ridiculous paycheck and place them in charge of security. The kind of people we're after don't play fair and they DON'T like rules. If we're going to stop them we need a team that can meet them on their own terms and beat them at their own game.”
Director Hawthorne: Sits down in his oversized chair. “And what exactly did you plan on calling this team?”
Agent Jacobs: “What else? Deviant Corps.”
Chapter One
The One in Charge
Merrywidow, Deathshade and Zero G all sit in a room looking at various laptop screens. Zero G has a lit cigarette hanging from her mouth. She looks up from her laptop over Merrywidow's shoulder.
Zero G: “Sexy. Is he single?” leans on Merrywidow's shoulder, Merrywidow shakes her off.
Merrywidow: “If you must know he isn't. He's my husband or rather ex-husband.”
Zero-G: “So what happened? He ditch you for some blonde twat with over priced boobs?”
Merrywidow: “No. I died.” stands up and walks out of the room.
Zero-G: “Uh... Care to run that by me again?”
Merrywidow: “No.”
Zero-G: “Did I miss something?”
Deathshade: “A great deal. Don't worry, she'll tell you when she's ready.”
Merrywidow enters the gym where Firenado and Gunmetal are working out. Gunmetal is lifting weights while Firenado is running on the treadmill.
Gunmetal: “So that's when I look at my partner and say: 'Fuck, this bastard's gonna make it to us and we're going to have to stop him. I do not want to put my hands on his naked, sweaty ass!'”
Firenado: “Is there a point to this story?”
Gunmetal: “Just trying to make you laugh man.”
Merrywidow: Grabs the barbell out of Gunmetal's hands. “Don't.” Drops it back in his hands but he jumps back from it.
Gunmetal: “Hey lady! What gives?!”
Merrywidow: “I've got a lot of work to do and I'm in no mood for the usual bullshit from you Gunmetal so zip it.” walks over to a treadmill next to Firenado.
Firenado: “I'd rather be alone.”
Gunmetal: “Yeah Firenado's allergic to happiness.” leaves the gym.
Merrywidow: “Well tough. I have to use this treadmill, it's the only one fortified to handle my weight.”
Firenado: “Fine.” gets off the treadmill and walks out leaving Merrywidow alone.
Merrywidow: sighs “Suddenly I don't feel like working out anymore.”
@adelina It took a while but I finally came up with something!
