So while languishing over whether or not to move forward with Shadows of the Bat I pulled out my comic collection and what should be sitting on top but The New 52's Catwoman #0. That' horrible, terrible, awful multi-page toilet paper of an origin story for my beloved Catwoman. Thankfully I read number 1 first or I might not have read any of them at all. Anyway, in this issue DC in it's (not so) infinite wisdom decided to default to the Tim Burton origin story of Catwoman, right down to being shoved out of an office high rise window when she discovers incriminating evidence against some guru in the mayor's office.
This got the rusty gears in my head turning.
Why not turn what I've done so far with Shadows of the Bat into a Catwoman pre-origin story? It would still feature Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent of course and the storyline would remain unchanged, the focus would simply shift from Bruce Wayne to Selina Kyle. I think I do better with female lead characters anyway. I would need to re-write the chapters (especially the first and second) but the essence of the story would remain unchanged. Fox can go fuck itself and I think even Kevin Smith and Paul Dini would like it since it ditches that shitty monstrosity of an origin story in Batman Returns/Catwoman #0.
Time to get a liquid cooled keyboard.
