there should be features on local #4 and demo this week. neither of which are by me. the guys like you too.

also, I have decided that you should make a movie of Supermarket and recruit Ms. Drake Suicide to star as Pella.

That's my theory for today.
_seven_:
DMZ is pretty slick man. Lovin it.

Keep it up.

I've had Danger Doom on repeat for about five days.

Working on comics, working on comics. Not sure how interesting that actually is to anyone here, and I can't seem to GIVE my comics away (see entry a few days ago), but whatever. smile

For those who follow such things, Local #3 is out next week. I posted some new images and pages to my LJ...

that dangerdoom album is effing awesome isn't it? 5 days so far, eh? i'd say you've probably got about another 3 weeks before you even contemplate turning it off and then (if you're anything like me) you'll decide to keep it on anyway

by the way, DMZ is ace

Dah, dah. The art of Comic Creation also plagues me. Nothing published (yet, always gotta stess the "yet"), but here in about two months that will change. I'm one of those sad and lonely freaks who does it all (write, pencil, ink, cry), so I'm sure you know what type of person I am : a shut-in. Don't have much online, but follwing the link at the bottom is some stuff I did a few years ago. The website is terrible and none of the images get above thumbnail size, but, hey, I'm not in charge of the site and don't really care one way or the other (I've got comics to create, after all). Just click on "Artists" and then click on the green-eyed alien and there I be, here

with my crazy work schedule this past few months, i've taken to odd rituals, like getting out of bed at 4am on weekend mornings and reading, just reading, sitting on the sofa enjoying the feeling that at this moment, no one could possibly need me to do anything. its one of the few times i can really feel myself relaxing. in a couple hours, it'll...

you should indeed. the comic shops in my area are no good.

but seriously. I'd say good things about DMZ even if you weren't nice to me. wink I wrote the first review before I even knew you were on SG.

Bush's Recess Appointments

The idea of recess appointments is well known, and every president does it. Simply put, if a president has reason to suspect its choice for a particular government appointment is going to be met with resistance from Congress, he'll opt to wait until everyone is on vacation and just appoint them himself. That appointee will hold...

I am not even surprised anymore by the absolute refusal of this administration to take even the tiniest lesson from its past major fuckups. The last incompetent appointee helped drown a city I loved.

I'm going to go read DMZ #3 now.

Just read DMZ#3 and all I got to say is awsome just awsome.

Loe convinced me to stay on SG for a little while longer. I guess that's fitting, as it was Loe's first photoset that got me to sign up as a member. smile

So hey - free stuff! The first five Suicide Girls to respond here and then email me their mailing addresses will get some copies of my comics mailed to them. You can email...

I don't think I'll be an SG member for too much longer... I have so many other sites and blogs, this one's been seriously falling by the wayside.

Anyway, you can find me here, all day long.

DMZ #2's first pages look great. Awesome cover. This is definately my favorite thing next to - possibly surpassing - Jenny One/Channel Zero (sorry if I got title wrong it's been a while). My favorite comics now are:
1. POWERS
2. DMZ
3. Wildcats - only cuz of Dustin Nguyen's artwork. That kid's sick!
4. Fables

Basically there's only a two good writers in comics I enjoy and can think of off the top of my head. You and Bendis. not to say there isn't more I respect and all. But if you and bendis stopped writing comics, and Ashley Wood stopped drawing them, I'd probably stop buying comics altogether.

YOU ROCK.
kogun:
No don't leave.

hi there!! :]
I'm so impressed with your amazing art work!! Did you ever do a SuicideGirl?
Congrats from Brazil!

Hey Brian -
I dug DMZ # 1

Looking forward to seeing where it's going - is it ongoing monthly or limited? Love the idea of that setting not just in a western country but in this country.

I also enjoyed the 1st issue of local - i like the idea of 1-shots like that. I was surprised to see the asshole boyfriend in a Pixies shirt. Just didn't seem like asshole boyfriend music.

Anyways - I just popped into the comic group to see what was new and saw the DMZ post and was pleased that to find your profile.

I noticed that you're also credited as an artist on DMZ - were you inking/finishing/coloring? Or doing layouts?

I'm just getting started writing comics - I've got a six issue series called "The Last Christmas" from Image - it's about Santa Claus after the apocalypse. I'm going to post in the comics group once it gets closer. The art is by Rick Remender and Hilary Barta. After that I'm going to try and roll that into some other 4color work.

Enjoyed those 2 new books of yours - hope all is well and good luck with the two new books,
Gerry

Damn..I missed LOCAL...will have to rectify that.
But the first issue of DMZ has me looking forward to more smile

I was also wondering if you had any suggestions on what I might want to put into a portfolio if I was looking for something in illustration and/or comics.
What do they look for?

Thanks
-Chris-
ninjaprodigy:
Okay. Thanks.

Grabbed a flyer at a comic shop a week ago for a company that's trying to start up.
Sent an email, got a reply, hopefully get to do some sample pages from a script they'll send me.

One thing I was asked about that I hadn't thought of: What's a respectable page rate for an artist with no professional experience?
