excuse me if this turns into a rant... PAUL WOLFOWITZ AS HEAD OF THE WORLD BANK? WHAT THE FUCK? i pray so hard that this does not go through. it would destroy any hope for reform from the less crazy of two major development organizations (even though the IMF isn't supposed to have nothing to do with it). i've seriously had enough of this free market absolutism that has been taking over for the last twenty five years or so. look at what we have done. the world is not becoming more egalitarian, its becoming more and more divided. corporations are becomeing more powerful everyday. these fucking "free" trade agreements (and the wto) put the rights of corporations above those of sovergn states and most certainly above the well-being of the world's citizens. honestly, don't you think there is something wrong when a company can sue a government because that government decided that the compnay could no longer sell a product that hurt people/destroy the environment. our agricultural subsidies have destroyed farms all over the world and put millions out of work. are the world bank, imf, and wto really that blind? while americans sit back and watch tv, resistence all over the world is growing. almost every democracy in south america now has a leftist government opposed to these neoliberal policies. the collapse of wto negotiations in cancun last year is a sure sign that the developing world is taking a stand. does america (and when i say that i mean its government and corporations, not its people) think we can just impose our will on every country in the world and feed them bold face lies that it is for their own good, and not expect repercusions? then we can get onto a whole different topic of military interventions and the such..... coups in iran, guatemala, chile, hati (x2), (attempted) venezula just to begin with.... a full blown terrorist campaign in nicaragua (not to mention our very own terrorist training camp, the fine institution formally known as the School of Americas).... support of atrocious regimes (too many in the past to name, but currently colombia and a slew of caspian region dictators for example).... rigging elections across europe in the fragile post world war II era (and we wonder why polls show that italians have no faith in their elected government)....
ok i'm going to stop myself. on the upside, i bought the new vacancy cd and the song 'hey there' is one of the most rocking songs i've heard in quite a while. i'm counting down the days until against me!

You remind me of someone I know, both in your pics and your journal stories. I know you feel like you should act your age but I can tell you from personal experience that it comes with time. I'm seriously in full-on regression at 27 yo and acting like a dumb idiot more every day. In fact, I finally gave into curiousity and signed up here 2 days ago... Anyway, yer cool... I'm gonna bookmark you as interesting.
