wwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
today was a good day.
i've made some big decisions and little decisions and read through loads of paperwork and actually understood what it was all saying (i hate those days where everything seems really adult and grown up and despite a degree in this damn language i can't understand all the posh words )
so, i've now sorted myself with some (very) part time work at my local theatre. doing the box office (dull and people think i'm stoopid but all good experience) and waving my hand madly to any other chores within the building such as admin, ushering, bar work and technical help. well, i haven't yet, i've only had three training shifts but my hand is poised and ready if i sniff a vacancy somewhere.
and a few weeks ago i also sent off a general round of letters to local museums, galleries, theatres, events people and asked for some work experience. this was mostly encouraged by mr timskin, send him applause for being nice and supportive while i dripped like...a....discarded ice cream scoop (?? my weekly challenge: make original analogies and don't settle for the cliches) i had back three replies out of ten so that's not bad and one in particular offered me a great little job in my nearest city. it's a weeny weeny city but a city. not that that is at all important. basically i'll be helping support a community group who aim to bring together minority groups from the area, and if anyone knows about feeling like a sore thumb it's me maybe not 'anyone', i'm not the most unloved being in the universe...but y'know, i understand and stuff. anyway.
this group wants to put on a week long festival promoting their minority awareness things in october and it's becoming a bit of a big thing to manage alongside their 9-5 jobs. which is where i come in for the first part i'll be covering all the admin/ e-mail nonsense and then writing up their requests for a National Lottery grant. once that's all gone through (fingers crossed for the full 10,000) then i will be a) celebrating my writing success at having compiled a brilliant award winning report, and b) setting about organising the festival from venues to pva glue. which is always needed. pretty exciting stuff eh??
the little decisions?
1. i cut myself a fringe (*gasp) and it looks....alright. it's one of those geek thick ones but i don't think it suits my face shape that well, or the other bits of my hair aren't quite long enough yet to balance it. i'll definately post up some more photos (and general ones) once we've fully sorted out the computer after it's weekend operation
2. i tried on a pair of size 10 jeans (that's a 6 if your U.S and care) in topshop and they looked shite so i'm going to be carrying on with the gym on a regular basis (it's going well so far) to get my ass in them for the summer cos i refuse to buy them in a 12 haha.
oh and i remembered to do the following asap:
1. tax my car
2. book for my first ever tooth filling
3. sort out my phone contract
4. sell my isle of wight festival tickets cos i now can't go.
5. book my tickets for a weekend to leeds may 18-20
6. change some shifts at work so i can do my one day a week event organising
7. buy some new strings for my guitar.
p.s. my home is still on the market, and we're waiting at the minute for a report on the house we want to buy about it's structural soundness and things. but, my parents got wasted at the weekend and had lengthy chows (it's a chat that becomes a row, they have them so often i nicknamed them) about their futures and wtf was going on and if they were making the right decisions to start their own business and bla bla. and they come up with a half baked plan (but my god it smells good so far) to take our house off the market, forget about the b&b, both take 6 months to go travelling in europe together and leave me in the house
i can't even describe how excited i am about that possibility of living rent (though not bill) free with a spare bedroom to rent to whomever and endless summer plans and drunken bbqs........ahh.
mustn't get too excited though, it could all fall through or spin in another crazy direction yet, we'll have to see. oof i'm knackered. must sleep then go to gym then get to work then see my best lady friend who has FINALLY returned from espana after three long long months.
hope everyone's doing ok, i'll try and do some personal posts soon!!

hope you're settling in a bit now, despite the recent layout changes!!
There's some truth to the dandelion thing - they are a mild diuretic. Common folk remedy for purifying the urinary tract and bladder, given to children very often, hence it's most common name other than dandelion - wet-the-beds. Or 'piss-the-beds' in many places (pish-the-beds in Scotland). In France they are called pissenlit.
Young dandelion leaves are put in salads sometimes alongside lettuce, rocket, etc - tasty (but not enough to make you wee everywhere).
