I'm going to a free screening of Coffee and Cigarettes tonight, I can hardly wait. The cast includes Bill Murry, Tom Waits, GZA, Ghostface Killer and more. This should be good.
I'll let you all know how the movie was....
Coffee and Cigarettes is the FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!
Alright there are 10 scenes none related to the next except for that they each take place over coffee and cigarettes. Some of the dialogue is repeated from scene to scene but each time it comes across as unique and original. The all-star cast is great however only about 4 of the scenes really fucking hit home, but the neccessary journey through the rest play there part in setting stage for what has to be some of the most original and quirky nuaunces of human behavior and dialogue ever to be captured on film.
The entire movie is shot in Black and White, and the underlying paterns of contrast between light and dark against the meticulous detail of each setting is absolutly remarkable. While some of the scenes left me not moved, I was never for a moment not intrigued.
So enough crap talk. The on screen combinations to see are of course Tom Waits and Iggy Pop who delivery such an extraordinary and captivating story it brings neck deep into world of vision of the director. Only to be matched by another amazing musical duo the White Stripes, in which their subtle comedy and detailed expressions had the entire theater roaring with laughter. Many of the other scenes were exceptional each for their own reasons, but supported by the incredible detail of the cinematography and direction of the film.
But in the end the scene of all scenes was Bill Murry, Rza, and Gza. The scene was second to last and exactley what all the hype was about!!! A command performance if only for a scene by Bill Murry, "....you guys are up to no good, your dangerous, your.....WU TANG" yeah and your Bill Murry, Bill ground hog day, ghost bustin ass murry.
GO AND SEE THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW!!!!
