Ski season is over in Telluride and the snow has given way to dust and mud. Today is my one year mark in Colorado and living in a small mountain town. I miss the city, but not as much as I thought I would. The overwhelming force of raw nature offers a lot for one to consider and to explore. One of the coolest things about this place is the diversity of the landscape, you can go from mountains to desert in no time and find so many wonderful places in between.
Looking back on the past year I can say now with certainty that summer in the mountains offers you so much more. Don't get me wrong I love snowboarding to death, and riding all winter has pushed me to a new level. But in the summer you can hike, climb, fish, raft, you name it. This summer I'm going to get serious about exploring the desert, and doing some hiking and camping in the mountains. Last year I was caught up with getting to know everyone and setting up my business.
I feel like now I have more time and energy. Speaking of time it's almost time for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival. I'm going to drive down this year and work the festival again. I'm going to stop in Sante Fe, NM, Austin, TX, and Corpus Christi, TX along the way. I have never driven through this part of the country before and I'm really looking forward to it.

I was out that way snowboarding in the mid 90's. I liked the town a lot. Seemed chill and didn't have that stuck up vibe you get out around Vail.
Maybe some day I'll get to move out West. I need to find a high paying shop job though first.
