May as well get this thing started in earnest.
I joined SG mainly because it seems like a nifty counterculture experiment. Aside from pictures of beautiful women, the site seems to offer the opportunity to meet a wide variety of individuals with common (or uncommon) interests. I dig that. Most of the people in suburbia (I'm stuck in NoVA until school starts back up. Next year, I'm going to try and see if I can get some roommates together for an apartment in Annapolis) are generally pretty lazy when it comes to experiencing new things, and there is a noted lack of people to talk to about anything interesting.
One thing I've noticed, though, is that these journals are, for the most part, like real journals. I guess a big plus to that is that there's a certain degree of intimacy, but I find that a big drawback is that a lot of entries just end up being entries for the sake of entries. I'm going to try to avoid that, and post only when I have something (allegedly) interesting to say.
For example: I went to work and bought new sneakers today, because my old ones had fallen apart, and I needed something to work out in. I also spent a large part of my day at work. The new episode of Justice League sure was nifty. This is the truth.
I don't want to make entries like that last bit. If anything, I want my space to be a place where I can discuss big questions with others like or unlike myself.
So, in short, Dan, meet SuicideGirls. SuicideGirls, meet Dan.
Pleased to make your acquaintance.
