Jobs are good.
Yay! I've got a new temp assignment and this one should run a few months so I can save up and really get my head above water. I'll be working in the copy room of Chicago Title Insurance, which will probably be crushingly boring, but whatevs. Money in the bank and that much closer to financial independence. I'm feeling really good about things right now. I'm in the midst of a lot of changes but I feel like I'm surrounded by a lot of people who love me and care about me and I love and care about them and I feel more adventurous than scared. My friend Brooke and I have started futzing around a bit with writing some music and so far the results are really good and we both seem to be on the same page in terms of really breaking loose of any kind of genre expectations that might restrict us from expressing ourselves fully and I've also got a few things lined up music wise that will be totally for fun and I think will be a really good time (not that I don't think that this new primary project that's taking shape won't be fun either, that's kind of the whole point, but you know what I mean).
Only dark patch: HST's suicide, but I'm more befuddled by it than anything else. I would have never in a million years pegged him as one to punch his own ticket. As one betting man concerning another, at this point I'd actually put money on it turning out that he found out he had some kind of degenerative neurological disorder and went by his own hand before his brain could die. That's the only kind of suicide that would seem to be in keeping with his general personality and outlook. Oh well. "There are many rooms in the house and we'll never see all of them." I think I'm going to get the books of his that I don't own already this week and re-read Transmetropolitan, a truly great graphic novel series about a journalist in the future that is very much influenced by Dr. Gonzo. I shall raise an ether-soaked black rag to half mast and piss your name in the snow on Nixon's grave for you sir.
Current Mood: thoughtful
