I dont know what you would call this- some clever name would help. Im not a poet, im not so much even a writer but ive found myself doing it lately. So...a title...
As a girl speaks through her sorrow to see a new light.
I thought he died smiling,
wide as the ring of a bell
gone all star white.
Small as a wish in a well,
both our heads soon fell like
eyes on a crack in the door.
Who left you so?
Striking a match for the keyhole,
dark as the evening laid
when he left me all alone.
Who do you see
through the other side?
Who is the man
turning to fade through the sawgrass,
tall as the only love
that Youll ever really know.
And she whispered to me,
Grace is a gift for the fallen, dear.
You're an angry blade & you're brave
but you're all alone.
Who is it who left you all alone?
As I turn my face to an early dawn
I find myself walking again with him.
Hes turned a shade of an angel born
in a bramble ditch when the doors
of heaven closed.
I wished upon my breath,
when are you coming back?
I did not need him to reply.
Such a smile caught to his face
You are not alone, he said, I will watch you.
As he drank his wine to sleep
Like he did before.
I wanted to cut the wires but they were already broken,
and he was resting.
Who left you so?
Dont worry
I cant say, he never really left.
You see, hes quite near.
Daddy's ghost is behind you,
keep walking.
Hes a poem of mystery,
Hes the prayer inside you,
keep walking.
So I keep walking
as I say goodbye.
Love is a tired symphony,
you hum when you're awake.
When you sleep its back to the storm
to say your please to let it fade away.
I kissed your head and said goodnight.
What a wish I held in my mouth.
Could you have slept softly,
a cloud upon your face
to keep you company.
Wish for an ocean to wash you away.
Father dont worry,
Ive got a jacket and some friends on the corner.
Ill keep me safe.
Bruises keep building while others disappear,
but Ill keep walking.
Someday the waves will stop.
Every aching old machine will feel no pain.
Someday we again both will walk.
Until then, watch over me.
