- The not so boring news: I'm going to use my grandmother's autobiography to make a short comic story. It will be included in a square bound graphic novel anthology, with a theme: 'history'
I'll be trying out a different drawing style too. Something more friendly.
- Somewhat exciting news: I talked to a Realtor tonight, and am selling my condo for much more than I originally paid a number of years ago. (I need to de-clutter the place, and hire a maid. You know, make it NOT look like a bachelor lives here.)
- Related news: I'm talking to another Realtor to get a 50' x 250' south facing plot of land to retire on someday. It's located on Savary Island, known for its white sand beaches, warm water, and low population density. (Not including the summer when kids come to party.) I saw Garbage Warrior recently, and have ordered one of Mike Reynolds' books on building an 'earth ship' - a sustainable home. It might be fun. It's many hours away, so I can't live there, while working in the Vancouver area.
- Between the two I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have enough money left over to travel. Places I want to see: Montreal, New York, Europe, Israel, China/India, Japan, Australia, New Zealand... I don't know where else. I might be broke before I'm done. If I'm lucky I might have $17k (Canadian) to play with. The Tax man might take some of that. It's all up in the air right now. (I might not get the island property, so I'd have a hell of a lot more to Travel with.)
- A boring part: I plan on working for a roofing company in Surrey (greater Vancouver) for a while. The same one I work for/slack off at, now. It's one of those businesses that can't fail. It's in the middle of a rain forest. I have signing authority, and the owner wants to sell it to me. I'm paid by the hour, but I can come and go as I please.
The upside: I wouldn't have two jobs as I do now. At present I'm on-call for security at rock concerts and special events.
- There's another company I'm a director of (pure light industries). It used to sell stuff that helped people use less electricity, but it's not doing anything right now. I'd like to use it to have one condo to live in, and another to rent out, if I can't do that myself. (And then sell the rental to pay for the first one.) We'll see.
