Hey there! Excited to share that I've been accepted into my first Juried Art Show! Same gallery as last month, Memento Mori Gallery in Lakewood, Colorado. The show, titled "Throwing Salt", is Superstition themed and will be judged by Wolf Luv Films.
The piece I created is titled "Bad Omenals" and features various animals considered to be nefarious symbols within some cultures and ghost stories.
I chose a black dog (part of my favorite ghost story about a woman, a black dog, and a photographer who met his end trying to find them), a raven, a black snake, a black cat, a stationary Barn Owl (apparently it's good luck of one flies across your path, not so much if they're just sitting there), a melanistic fox (there's a black fox population around here and I sometimes see an orange/black one heading to a prairie dog colony in the dark mornings), a black widow spider, and a Death's Head Hawkmoth. I learned A LOT about drawing fur, feathers, and scales with this piece.
I'll be at the First Friday Opening Reception, which is 9/1/23, 6-9pm. If you're around West Denver, stop by to enjoy the 40 West Arts District First Friday Art Crawl! There's actually good parking (compared to the total chaos that is the Santa Fe Art District 😵)
I'll have a 16"×20" framed and ready-to-hang print in the gallery from 9/1/23-9/23/23. It is for sale through the gallery ($550). I'll also have 11"×14" prints for sale at the gallery of this piece and other metaphysical portraits/pinups I've made in the past.
I'm a little too busy to sell anything online rn (this is a hobby, not a hustle), but if you happen to be local or traveling through Denver, come by the Gallery and pick up some art 😁
