I was laid off. Well, everyone was laid off, and our little company - or at least my branch of it - was deemed a failure. This was a long time coming, and frankly I'm relieved, aside from the little problem of employment and its cousin issue, money. I am looking forward to what's next, be it another entertainment industry job (I'm getting some good leads and interviews, despite the recession and hard times overall) or a move into something else. I am also looking forward to a little time off. A close friend is trying to convince me to take a 2 week vacation someplace decadent - she thinks I work too much - but I'm not *that* indulgent. I am pondering a relaxing weekend away, though.
Just took in a kickass roller derby match, Fight Crew vs. Tough Cookies. The Crew gave the undefeated Cookies a real run for their money. The gameplay was serious and invigorating. Side highlights included: a girl puking, a girl going over the side of the track, and a girl losing her helmet. I saw a directing team I recently met with there, which marks the third time I've run into directors at roller derby. Apparently it's all hip and happening and shit.
Been an exhausting week - I am doing drinks and lunches overtime to try to exhaust my expense account and find meself a new gig - so I came home straightaway. Just took in some Netflix - TREMBLING BEFORE G-D, a doc on gay Orthodox Jews, informative and a little heartbreaking - and will most likely now watch SNL and go to bed. Damn, I'm old.

I really wanna "Hollywood" (lunch / drinks) with you. Or maybe roller derby, which I've been meaning to do for awhile. It hasn't jumped the shark yet? I keep expecting that from Lucha Va Voom. . .
On a plane ride, I had a Michael Cerathon with JUNO and SUPERBAD back to back. Nobody's on his acting jock, right? Cuz I didn't see anything particularly special. Should I?
