I am shaken by the shootings at VA Tech. I have confirmed that my student friends (friends' younger siblings and the like) are okay. Thank god. I expect, in the coming days, to hear of dead from my hometown in Virginia. What a mess. I need to turn off the tv and internet, because I am being absorbed by the sights, sounds, and exploitative CNN graphics. They have a graphic for everything.

My boss said that this would get guns banned (and she's an NRA member). I don't think that's possible in this country. If Columbine didn't get guns banned, I don't know what will.

I have just now changed the channel to "My Super Sweet Sixteen." I will try to be absorbed by this very different kind of atrocity.
