Apologies are important.
However, in order for an apology to be effective, you have to MEAN IT. If you say you are sorry for something, but continue to do that same thing, you are not sorry. If you are sorry, you STOP DOING IT.
If you have to apologize more than once for the same thing, you are not sorry for what you did, you are sorry that the other person was offended NOT THE SAME THING.
You can say sorry until you are blue in the face, but if you do not back it up with action, it is just empty words.

Yep, what matters are deeds. When we accept empty words and excuse bad behavior, we only encourage more of the same.
