That just made my fucking week. Just yesterday I was in Oshkosh, WI where Ted Sullivan, the special effects guy from Evil Dead, was at the House of Heroes comic shop for a signing with a screening/commentary of Evil Dead following it. It was awesome, I got to see the Necronomicon and various other props used in Evil Dead, like the prosthetic faces, the bitten off hand and all kinds of crazy props! The commentary on the Evil Dead movies was both interesting and hilarious, alot of the effects were so easily done while others took a lot of time to do (like the stop-motion stuff at the end of the movie). After the Evil Dead movie I saw a screening of Within the Woods and all the other short Sam Raimi films made in the early 80's. Within the Woods is a short film made to raise money in order to make Evil Dead. So I got to see an Pre-Evil Dead Bruce Campbell! He looked like a skinny little nerd in that one - so funny how much he's changed now. Ted Sullivan's art is great, and he's a really funny guy and very pleasant to talk to. He plugged his book that he's making with the fine folks at Dead Dog Comics called Ted Sullivan's Book of the Dead (basically an Evil Dead comic), and had lots of good things to say about his artist Josh Medors. All in all it was a great night. Be sure to check out Ted Sullivan's website at darkageproductions.com and you can see information regarding his comic book at deaddogent.com.

I met the guy that did the effects for Army of Darkness back in college, that was cool to. He didn't bring any of the props from that movie though, but he did brign Jason's hockey mask, which was very cool...
